I have an appt tomorrow, but I woke up this morning with the whole stuffy head/cold thing going on, and not sure if I should keep the appt or not. It may only last for 24 hours, but I've no way of knowing.

Do you care if a client has a cold when seeing you? Would you rather he wait until he's over it?

Personally I would definitely prefer a friendly email asap letting me know, and offering to reschedule if need be. No one likes getting sick, and it obviously effects business. Be honest and give her the choice of whether to see you or not. It would be a lot worse if you show up sick without mentioning it. Hope you feel better!

Thanks, Gabby!

Kind of thought it's better to let her know.

Bbeing sick can be miserable and very costly when one is self employed. I personally would reschedule...
I hope you are feeling better soon!

Took the advice both you and Gabby provided. Sent the agency an email advising of the situation. We'll see what happens.

Thank you.

If you're not feeling well, you should always let the lady know, and try to reschedule.

The level of respect goes up for a client if he is feeling unwell and calls me to cancel. He is not only thinking of his immediate needs but my health and safety too. That is the mark of a great client!

Place this situation in reverse...would you appreciate a lady seeing you if she were coming down with something?  You'll make the right choice.

I canceled an appointment with a lady a few years ago because I woke up with a sinus attack and could barely breath. Being under the weather is a definite mood-killer.

If a provider catches some virus from a client, she might pass it on.  She also will likely lose days out of work which really hurts the self employed (and possible doctor's costs).
Better for everyone if a reschedule takes place.  I have called & cancelled & was thanked for it.

And lose money for all the other appointments we have to cancel when we're under the weather?

I once had a client who KNEW that he was "getting over" the flu and came to see me anyway, telling me only mid-way through the session.

I fell deeply ill for SEVEN DAYS (@ $200 a day in a hotel as I was on tour) and lost thousands of dollars.

I'll never forget that.

If you're under the weather always stay home!

If I am not feeling my best, I will most certainly not visit a provider.   The closeness of a session is a perfect vehicle for the transmission of a myriad of germs...

The same thing should go both ways though.   I saw a woman once who obviously had a bad cold, and while she did not kiss me, I ended up with a cold for the next week also..   I felt like crap, and knew exactly where I got it from.

Oh Well.

been suggested. Just wanted to say that you're off to a good start, in that you asked for opinions when you were unsure as how to proceed. That's what this board is about, and there's no question that's to silly to ask. You may be directed elsewhere for answers but you will get the info. you're seek.:)
