Sins go ahead and take the tax deduction, since you are in the biz, it is just a professional expense, not a charitable contibution.

lol....

I have posted a number of qualified reviews to TER and have yet to reach VIP status. Each of my reviews are mysteriously disapproved. Per instructions on the web site, I have asked for specific reasons on why certain posts have been denied but they are never answered.

My only conclusion is that the web site monitors are really about just making money. The only true way of making VIP is by paying money.

I'll continue to use the web site to get some kind of information that is free, but I will never pay these guys....because its really only about them making money.

I've been VIP for six years and I have never paid a dime for it. I earn my status writing reviews and problem reports.  If your reviews are not getting approved there is a reason. Check the account manager in the VIP section and look under "my Reviews".  It will tell you why a review was rejected.  If your posts are not getting approved (meaning that you are moderated) there is also a reason. Try contacting your local board moderator to see what the problem is.

Like any site TER has rules.  They make them, not you. If money was the only way to get VIP status the number of reviews her would probably be less than half of what it is.

I did pay one time, but have mostly maintained my status by reviewing and problem reports.  I just checked and I'm down to 356 days of VIP remaining.

Of course, I did just submit a problem report on the OP's review, lol.

At least one of your reviews has been approved.  Have you checked the account manager (at the top).  TER is slow to accept reviews from new members with no history... It's a tough call but is to avoid self reviews & other bosus tactics.  I believe the board participation my help with your individual history.
YES, TER is in it to make money.  So is every other site.  Sites where the ladies pay...  guess what?... those sites are slanted to their point of view.  As in unflattering reviews get changed or removed.
If we, the guys, want a site free of that influence, yes, we gotta pay at least some.

You have 90 days to get a review approved.  If you participate, correct anything that needs fixing...  resubmitt the review until it is accepted.

It may be because you haven't found the knack of writing to the TER style. The TER folks want to see a fairly specific style in reviews. They want the first section to be a teaser. They want the second section to be very nuts and bolts. Once you master the style, it's fairly easy to get reviews approved.

It's not unheard of for a review to be rejected for arbitrary reasons. But usually it's pretty easy to fix the problem and get it published.

have been rejected. Each time, it was for a different reason, but I fixed the problem, resubmitted the review, and it was accepted.

But your approved reviews are worth alot more to them than your 20 bucks. Obviously there is some distance between what you consider a qualified review and what they consider acceptable. I have never heard of anyone unable to get a response back as to why a review is not accepted... just sometimes we may not agree with the reason. If you follow the proper procedure and submit your question under 'Review Questions', then check back a couple of days later under 'My Feedback' I think you will have better results. It can be frustrating at first but like everything else, once you get the hang of it it is really easy.

TER is NOT holding your reviews  up in order to get MONEY from you friend! There is a simple explanation to why your reviews have not been approved. What you NEED to do is--- click on the "Account Mgr." icon at the top of the page. THEN click on "My Reviews".  There WILL be an  explanation(s) as to WHY your reviews were not approved, or WHAT you did NOT do right.  You can also send in a "Contact Us" (recommended), and ask questions, for further explanations.

BTW, I've been here for years, and have NEVER paid TER a nickel (That was also true PRIOR to becoming a Mod. (I wrote reviews, and problem reports for my VIP status, and membership).

This should clear things up. Happy Hobbying! ;-)

Two problems with the post...what wrong with making a little money?  And I am a liberal.

Second, you sound cheap if you pay 300.00 per visit and complain about a measley twenty dollars.
Living in the city, I give that much to the beggers on the street to get them out my face

Dammit! I thought TER was a charitable organization! So you mean I don't get a tax deduction??

Sorry for the tongue in cheek here, but your statement of the obvious was just too funny to pass up :)

lol....

But ever since the additional arbitrary and often hypocritical review piety safeguards were instituted in the last year it is easy for a newbie provider or hobbyist to assume that they will never get anywhere until they start peel'n off some cash to the powers that be.
Conversely however many a neophyte hobbyist that PURCHASED their VIP has also complained of their reviews being "unapproved" or indefinitely differed.
