I occasionally travel to certain cities to meet with friends that invite me to come and see them. I am planning to tour soon and I don't know how different this is from what I do now. I assume that you would post ads in that city and book in advance and cancel the tour if you don't have deposits or enough confirmed appointments? When you tour, where do you post ads? How does all of this work?

Manual [link at the top of this board]. There are details about posting ads on multiple local ad boards that you need to read. Normally, you are permitted one ad every 7 days on your own local ad board but I believe the rules are a bit different if touring multiple cities in the same seven day time period.

Why not combine some business while visiting some of your friends. If you are meeting a friend late afternoon, why not schedule an appointment with a client earlier in the afternoon just before you see your friend. This way you are not incurring any additional travel expense and can pocket some coin.  Same thing can be done when you are leaving town. If you are not staying in a hotel, then you will need to do outcall in your friend's city.

In addition to your inexperience with touring, which is key, you have a number of issues that will work against your tour:

 
1) You have very few reviews here.

 
2) None of your reviews are recent.

 
3) All of your reviewers have very few reviews, with 2 of the 3 having the minimum.

 
4) You have no p411 link to your profile.

 
Personally, I would suggest you build up your profile here first by garnering new reviews and hopefully some of your new reviewers will have quite a bit more review writing history then your current ones.

 
Tours can be problematic for the most experienced girls with many great reviews, as so many factors can affect a tour, some of them completely out of the girl's control.

 
This may not be want you wanted to hear, but we try and give the best, most accurate and truthful advice we can with the info you provide.

I know a lot of clients would not be too happy if they covered all her expenses for her to come to see them, and then she uses her spare time to see other clients who only pay her rate for her time. Some guys might be ok with that but I'm guessing most would not be.

Some providers do just as you said. They will put up ads in advance and try to get prebookings. If they don't get enough prebookings, they may cancel the trip. Others just wing it, and make the trip and hopefully get enough business while there.

My suggestion is to pick places you want to visit anyway. Play tourist. Find fun things to do in the city. If you get lots of business you leave with a nice profit, and maybe did not get to do all the other things you wanted to do there, but you have an excuse to go back. If you get some business, but not overwhelming, then you probably get to see the city, have a nice little vacation, and cover your expenses, so it's like a little paid vacation. If you get very little business, then you do all the sightseeing and fun things you want to do in that city, and just enjoy yourself, though you might spend some money. (But who doesn't spend money on vacations?)  

As for ads, you can use the TER ad boards for the cities you plan to visit. As KK said, the rules for visiting ads are different than for your home city. There is still a 1 ad per 7 day rule per board, but you can run ads on multiple boards at the same time. However for visiting ads you must include your visiting dates in the subject line.  

You can also run ads on other ad malls but you'll have to figure out which ones are popular in the cities you are planning to go to. Every area can be different.  

One last thing, do take into account the things jack dunphy mentioned in his post.

...I would suggest the OP do her first tour in a city she has visited before that is also a fairly short train or car ride home. For example, many NY based girls will go to Boston/Philly/DC for their first tour to get their feet wet.

 
That will cut down the monetary risk a tour poses while at the same time allowing her to learn the ropes of touring in a town she knows at least something about.

From reading these boards, I get the impression that Providers have different ratings for the cities they visit.  In some cases, the cancellation rates are low. In other cases, some Providers complain about a high cancellation rate ... so they will cancel a trip if they can't prebook 2x or some other multiple of their earnings goal.

In some cities, you can ask on the local boards for news about upcoming events that could have an impact on disposable income or travel. There's a big construction project in Boston that will create traffic jams on the Mass Pike for the next several weeks. A big convention will fill up hotel rooms and make things difficult and expensive for you. A big sporting event can consume clients' disposable income during your visit. The Annual Family Activities Week will make it hard for married guys to get away for a visit. A visiting Pope or President can paralyze transit in a city and some guys won't schedule meetings on those days.

Major cities have convention bureau websites where you can see the official events well in advance of a trip.

I don't make my friends cover all of my travel expenses. I know that some girls do, but I travel on my own and prefer to rack up the perks of it.  

When a guy invites me to his city for a visit he isn't expecting me to be with him 24/7. Most of my friends are workaholics who literally stay up til 3 am sending emails or conducting some conference call with a team in India or some bs like that, so we only spend a few hours of their free time together. After that I use the remainder of my time to sight-see, go shopping, or find events to go to.  

I don't see why reviews are relevant because I am not trying to become "miss TER." I meet most of my friends through mutual connections. I very rarely book any friends from TER or any other websites that I am on. When I mention TER the response is usually "huh?" I personally don't care about reviews, who has them, who gives them, who what when where how or why. Not the direction I am trying to go here, so I don't push the agenda.  

Don't get me started about P411. My provider application was rejected 3 times because I don't have a P411 reference or "seasoned reviews," whatever that means. Basically the way I see if is, you all just want to know the things that I consider to be private affairs? Its no one's business..... why should I put it out there?

I definitely don't think I am ready for that. I prefer a city I know my way around, know the people, and can maneuver without any effort.

Thank you. Your post is very informational. I do like the idea of touring cities that I plan to visit anyway that way its more laid back and I don't have to worry about the technicalities so much.

Having reviews makes me feel raunchy and trashy like its all that I stand for, and I don't like it. I feel objectified by reviews instead of that warm flirty feeling that you get when you just vibe with someone that you have just met and know that you will have a great time. Its definitely not how I want things to be for me.

They are only relevant if you want a better chance at a good, profitable tour. If you don't care about that, then just ignore my advice. No biggee.

 
TER is not the "be all and end all" for every town in America, but it is usually very important to girls who tour certain cities. I can tell you if you came to NYC, I would be shocked if you did well as TER is huge here, but I could be wrong.

 
P411 is added insurance to many guys that you are not LE as well as being a site that makes verification much easier for the guys so that is why I mentioned it.

 
As to you last paragraph, I will only speak for myself. Of course I want to know what I am paying for before I plunk down hundreds of dollars an hour. Isn't that just being a savvy and smart shopper?

 
Now, you have every right to want your private affairs private. Just de-list yourself here as there are multiple ways to accomplish that.

You do realize that "the erotic REVIEW" is a review site, right? A lot of providers don't want reviews, and that is fine if you choose to run your business that way, but then why are you in a review site asking for advice?

As for p411, it is an excellent verification site and can help keep you safe. They have their requirements for a provider to get on there. It is not easy and shouldn't be. They don't want anyone just claiming to be a provider. They need some verification. It is just as hard for clients to get on. However their requirements are spelled out pretty simply. Your application should not have been rejected 3 times, because you should have never applied in the first place since you weren't qualified.

I use TER as an arena to keep up with trends. I just don't favor reviews.
