I'm a newbie and got ripped off. The provider looked nothing like the picture on the ad.  How to avoid that in the future?

Being a newb, it's pretty obvious you did not to it.  Search on the newb board for research.  It is someting everyone needs to do.  PM me if you need more help.

Reviews r your best friend. As a newbie, you do not want to TOFTT (take one for the team), and avoid seeing new providers that do not have reviews--leave that up to the vets.

My suggestions are: make sure she has reviews on TER, not one, but several. Make sure the reviewers are also reputable, meaning that that have several reviews under their belt.

You mentioned that the provider looked nothing like the ad. There r several steps to avoid that. You can google the picture. Click google, and use their image feature, copy the image, and google should bring up similar picture detailing the info of the specific picture. Also, try tineye, its a website that has similar features and will give you the history of the picture--you can determine if it is from the same person or imposter.

You can also try to google the providers phone number, if she is a provider, then her ads will appear from different regions and you can determine from there. You also want to avoid ads that post "hourly", that extra "ly" on the hour is a big indication that it is for escort service only, not the escort service we want. There r more steps to take, I have just named a few. I have included a link below called the "self help center". You can find it in the upper right of the newbie page. Very useful for beginners.

Make sure you write the review so others know. If everything fails, it doesn't hurt to ask the provider if she has reviews, any prof she worked that other places, or something of that nature. You never want to discuss services on the phone though--its mentioned on the "self help center". Feel free to PM me if you need further advice. Be a member here on TER, it saves you big money and time from rip-offs: you can check reviews and everything that is essential for safe hobbying. Take care, and be careful of your next pick. Always research a provider before calling.

If you upload the photo's URL to this site, it will tell you if it finds hits for it in other places, which is always a tip-off that she stole the photo and is therefore not recommended.

I think Goggle also has an ap for this.

Lot's of guys on here have outted gals for doing this.

Of course, the more prefered solution is to become a VIP member and research a gal's reviews before contacting her.
