I'm pretty sure it means to banish, get rid of....somewhere along those lines.

187 stands for murder

On a lighter note HAPPY EASTER!!!

"86" as in Agent 86 from Get Smart, comes from 86 proof; originally, it was to throw somebody out of a bar for drunkeness.  Now, it's simply to ban or evict or shun a person.

Actually it means you are kicked out and not allowed on the property.  Very common for someone to be "86" at a bar or Vegas casino.

Chumley's was a speakeasy. When the cops came everybody ran out the door with the 86 on it. They got it down to the point that if there was an imminent bust the bartender would yell 86!! The meaning reversed over time, so now 86 means to totally ditch someone or something.
