 Newbie tips:
Read the self help center (find the link at the top right of the board by the life preserver).
Read back on this board 10-20 pages, and you will see many of the same questions come up over and over again. The same questions you probably have, or will have, or may not even know you had until you read it.
Use search at the top of the page to look up specific topics. The default date range is 30. Change it to 300 or more when you search.
Buy VIP membership here and start reading reviews for your area. You need VIP to read the full review and to do proper research.
Consider joining one of the verification sites like P411.
Look for newbie friendly providers.
If you have more questions come back and ask. And when you get VIP membership you can pm some of us veterans questions you may not want to post and we will answer them as best we can.

PM me if in DC and have VIP, otherwise respond here.  I still stay in touch with a couple of newbie-friendly wonderful providers from my early hobbying days who may be able to help you get established as did they myself.

I would also suggest that you check the "recent reviews" for your area (Reviews-New Reviews and select your area).  Look for recently reviewed providers with maybe five or less reviews who meet at least some of your criteria.  You have now identified providers in your area who are verifed, meet at least some of your criteria and who are more likely to be newbie-friendly.

Good luck

Make sure to get datecheck and P411. Differtent ones are better in different areas, and for different providers. Some will take an invite from Datecheck with no other refences. The lady I saw this week did this for me (unasked) and at the end of our session, told me that she is good at giving references, and also said to calll if I wanted to see someone else locally. She said many of them knew each other. Datecheck and P411 are not real big in my area, most use backpage..
