Providers....Don't you ever get tired of answering referral emails or telephone calls from a bazillion other providers whom you have probably never heard of, asking about clients you may not even remember?
Are you happy with the way referrals are handled now? If there is a better solution, what would that be?
If the client has followed my instructions on requesting references, I know exactly who he is and that the request is authorized. Additionally, a proper email request from the lady will have an introduction from her so that I can verify she is legit.
It's really not that big of a deal unless I get an email such as, "Hi this is Suzy, do you remember John?" Not often, but it's happened.
Referrals are a way to keep each other safe. I never get tired of giving them, however I do require the client to let me know that he is using me as a reference before he gives my name to another provider.
and I would much rather take care of them personally and speak with the referring provider herself personally. No need for third parties in our most private biz.
I LIKE checking references...usually the guy has a certain class of girl that he sees and so thus far I've had lots in common with the girls and they've all been at the very least informative and sweet. I've met a couple new friends from it...not like bossom buddy friends but kinda substitutes for the usual co-worker relationships you develop in an office.
I guess if someone was seeing a LOT of clients and had a lot of girls calling and asking for references it would be a hassle but for me it's a rare moment that I get to be sociable with another girl in the same line of work.
