I imagine the problem is that you don't have any recent references. Unless those three ladies were newbie friendly that response would be expected. Take a look at your local ad board to see if any ladies in your area advertise as newbie friendly. When you find one, let her know your situation and follow her screening process. She can help you get re-established in the scene.

I have not been hobbying for a couple of years and want to start again. I have selected three providers and used their websites' contact form to get the ball rolling. I have received no response from any of them. I was polite and provided the information they requested, as well as my contact information. Is this normal? Should I try a different approach, or keep trying with other providers?

Yes, that is correct. Howver, one of the providers in question is actually someone I have seen in the past. I tried to jog her memory, but no reply. I will take your suggestion. Thanks for replying.

Also I agree with what BigPapasan said - I don't use contact forms either. I find them too impersonal. I would much rather write a polite email introducing myself. I think that's the way to go. Good luck.

...you send an email explaining your circumstances. You write well which will be more impressive than the usual "hey babe r u avail?" that they are used to getting.

instead of one of those forms. I have yet to fill out any of those things, and have found that sending a provider an email outlining a specific question or issue gets a response 9 out of 10 times.
I'm sure many here will vouch for the effectiveness of using a verification site, but I don't use them and have had great success just using providers emails. I already pay for TER and I'm too cheap to spring for another site.
