Not sure if this is the right board or not, but since I'm a newbie to TER, I figured I ought to start here.

Just got a VIP membership and started reading the reviews.  How accurate/legitimate do you think the reviews really are?  (Providers may be better able to answer based on reviews written about them)

All I can tell you is mine are accurate,
and the girls that I have seen that already had reviews have fit the discription from their reviews

The really good ones don't need to fake reviews. Often their problem is the opposite, spiteful negative reviews written by competitors or guys with emotional problems, there's no shortage of these types in the hobby. The really bad ones are so obviously bad only a cretin would be tempted. No shortage of cretins in the hobby either. Then you have the, ah, creative marketing types. The tip off here will be inconsistency. Three of four bad to middling reviews and three or four glowing, she rocked my world, we had hours of non stop no hold barred unbelievable sex hyperbole. You start to wise up to the stereotyped phony ring that promotional BS always has. Either the girl has a thyroid problem or she took a course in creative writing. The real deal has the normal ups and downs of life. Not every day can be your Oscar performance. There will be the ring of credibility though. Remember that men are braggarts by nature. Assume that about 75% of what is claimed actually happened. After that you can get a good feeling from the tone of a telephone conversation. Does she even try to behave professionally ? Is she confident, emotionally present, straighforward ? Is she nice ? Avoid anyone who sounds contemptuous, rude, breathily unreal, or desperate. You'll definitely experience the oldest game in town, one girl with a sweet alluring voice will answer the phone (naturally, you'll assume this is the same one who you'll be meeting) and the one who answers the door is another person altogether. This is a good sign to slow down, take in your surroundings, and do a double gut check before proceeding. Have no shame nor hesitation about fleeing any situation that deosn't feel right.
If you've read some great reviews and the situation you're walking into doesn't come off like the environment the review suggests, just bail before you hand over a dime.

I look for a familiar name (of the reviewer), and give more weight to that review. Otherwise, I'd say reviews are pretty accurate, but everyone has his own opinion, which may or may not be yours. Also, YMMV="Your Mileage May Vary", as they say. Also, if one review stands out as radically different than the others for a particular girl, I'd say it was probably made up. For instance, if a provider gives CBJ to everybody but one reviewer, odds are he made that up.

in my opinion, is to look at the number of reviews, the consistency over time, and the reviewers.  It is good practice to check out the reviewers to see how many reviews the reviewer has, over what period of time, and whether the reviewer tends to mark high, low, or across the board.

By the way, many of the reviews tend to be exaggerated when the reviewer is describing himself, e.g. how many orgasms he gave the provider, how many times he came, and that sort of thing.

After a while, you will be able to pick it up.

For the most part, the reviews tend to be accurate.  I look at the content of the review, specific activities that are repeat from one reviewer to the next and in general try to gauge the personality of the provider.  In one instance, several people had made a comment on the providers behavior.  I ignored the advice and wound up with a really subsandard performance that I was not prepared for - and in fact - the provider made me feel bad for even being there.... but on the whole that is rare.  If you are seeing someone with only 1 reveiw - you are on your own... another thing to look for is how many reviews has each of a gals reviewers written a review for?  that is if you see 3 reviewers each with only one review then it is likely that they are "fake"
