What does it mean when a single message subject line in a thread turns red?

... show how old the post is.  Dates on posts start off bold black, then after 24 hours (I think) they turn red, then after 48 hours (I think) they turn non-bold black.  At least that seems to be the pattern by inspection of several threads below.  My times may be off, but it's definitely related to the age of the posts.

and now it's black.  Red and black fonts come and go like a demented Christmas tree.  Maybe it's linked to dark matter or other dimensions.

It was a tool for the moderators. As to the subject line turning red, in tree mode the post you currently have open will show the subject line in red. There are also some names in red. When there were volunteer moderators, their names would be in red on the boards they moderated. There are no more volunteer moderaters but swimtrekr has his name in red on this board only, as he is "host" of this board (whatever that means), and TER staff (TERAdmin, DiscussionBoardAdmin, SportsAdmin, MediaAdmin, etc.) have their names in red.
