How does one go about cancelling/deleting a post made to a discussion board?

I've seen posts marked as "deleted" and want to know if is it done after approval by staff or is there some secret chant involved? I haven't found a way, regardless...

TER members cannot actually delete posts, but they can edit posts for up to 24 hours after submission.

Simply open the post and click the 'edit message' button at the bottom of the screen to change or remove the message contents or subject line.

subject line, that is why people write in "deleted" or "oops", or "doh" or similar.

It's like wearing a dunce cap basically.

I wish it was revised so that you could erase all evidence of the post.

A humorous association to this whole practice of spending thousands on temporal pleasure.

allright but what happens if the post shows up 24-hours after submission. I just do not understand what gets moderated i.e. posted or not. I want to edit it, but after 24-hours I'm lost. oh well!
