Book/register at hotel for one or two?

I'm wondering about protocol for booking hotels for outcall (and sleep) when I'm traveling.  My plan, that is, is to get a room for an evening outcall, then sleep there alone, and drive on in the morning.  Now, should I book/register/pay for the room for two guests, or just one?  I believe the price difference is generally negligible if not nil, and registering for two makes requests for more towels seem more plausible.  (This is especially relevant to Jaccuzzi rooms!)  Is there any down side to booking the room for two?

get it for one and save yourself a few bucks.  Hotels normaly charge anywhere from 5-25 dollars per person depending on the number of stars the hotel is.  Dont be afraid to ask for more towels, thats their job to get you more, and nobody ever said that a hotel guest couldn't have company.  If they ask just say you have an obsessive compulsive disorder in which you mucst was your hands 10 times a day with a new towel.  Hey in "As Good As it Gets" he washed his hands 5 times with a new bar of soap each time *smile*

What name are you going to give for her? The only reason to consider adding her to the room registration is if she is staying with you for more than one night.

If you look at travel websites, most hotels charge the same rate for 1 or 2 persons.  So, if you book for one, and an extra person joins you (even if overnight), the hotel wouldn't care.  That way, you won't be asked for the name of the second person in your room.  Extra towels is no problem.  Some people like to shower twice or three times a day, and the hotel will oblige to this request without asking questions.

I've never had any problems booking for 1 even when she stays over.  I stayed at a pretty nice hotel in downtown San Fran and even had my "friend" leave her car in the valet parking under my room number overnight and it wasn't a problem.

If questioned about it at all I'd say it was and old friend and I had no idea she was going to stay or she was drinking and I made her stay.

My experiences have always been the provider pays for the hotel or took the room key from some schmuck (who got the room) she saw earlier and continued to use the room.  I woudn't pay for a room unless I was travelling.
