I am seriously considering joining one or more of the verification services. Probably Date Check first, and then P411 after that.
Given that these services seem like they do some sort of background check (criminal, credit or otherwise). Does that inquiry stick somewhere in someone else's database?
On the inverse side, opposite to the "inquiry" data point, there is also the "membership" data point, e.g. "RedCloak is a member of Date Check". Do you think this would affect background checks that dig deep enough? I don't want an employer to find out I am a member of DateCheck and then not employ me because I bang real chicks and have them instead take the equally qualified chronic masturbator with no need for verification services.
Specifically, I am concerned about the following types of background checks:
Having recently emerged from under-the-radar for employment and personal reasons, I'd say avoid it unless you feel you really, really need it. In my case, my former employer used the equivalent of an endoscope on all aspects of my life, and stuff like "verification services" could be unearthed fairly easily.
U have to join Date-check and 411 AND U need references from providers u've met..
If u build up ur references through TER(white list) and Date-check well...most of providers will not ask u about ur job and stuff andit could go smooth..
The services claim to destroy all of the personal information after verifying you. What you give them would not even let them pull your credit report (no SSN, no birthdate, no mother maiden name, etc). It's basically to verify you really work where you say you do and are not LE. So the one thing is they may call you at work (preferred411 did with me), check the company website for a listing, maybe call the employment verification number. After that, whether you are a good or bad client relies on references from ladies you've seen.
As long as you keep personally identifiable info off your profile, I don't see any concern with someone being able to trace you.
You need to be up for Senate confirmation before an investigator is going to start digging into verification services. I think it would be difficult for them to get anywhere on that front either. Oh, and I just refinanced my home, so there you go, no problem on the mortgage front caused by either preferred411 or Date-check.
The verification/membership process isn't as ominous as you think. Most providers do employment verification, RS2K and the others do the same thing they just register you in their data base using a phone number you provide so that the verification is done once instead of everytime you see someone. No concern over it turning up relative to a credit report or emplyment verification.
Trygger it's funny you mention Senate confirmation. I'm sure there are a few folks on this board who had to go through that (or were the guys doing the confirming, lol).
The other thought, I had recently in the last day or two, was US Security Clearance. I almost took a job requiring one about 10 years ago. I'm sure that digs deep enough - the process is pretty thorough depending on the clearance you are after and they really take their time. For that last prospective job, I was talking about, even in the interview process they were doing some basic vetting to make sure I had even a distant shot (like asking who I "cohabitated" with and whether my parents were alive and where they were living, etc.).
That's too bad because there are some really cool jobs that require a high level security clearance. Oh well, I suppose I'll have to serve my country in other ways.
As long as the other background checks work, I'm good to go.
"I'm sure that digs deep enough - the process is pretty thorough depending on the clearance you are after and they really take their time."
They take their time because they're overwhelmed!
There are several levels/aspects to a clearance investigation, and it depends upon the level you're seeking. This 'hobby' could be a topic during a poly, or it could be identified as a follow-up from a poly. Not trying to make you paranoid; just want to point it out as a risk. If you are single, then this hobby is a less-severe risk. If you're not, and you're thinking about a job that requires a significant security clearance, then take up a different hobby - like golf.
