the sooner you will establish a good posting history. Read the posting rules in the newbies manual, post your weekly ad on your local board, and join in on the discussions. Let people know who you are. Also, you are certainly not confined to only posting on you local board. If you have questions, opinions, or can be of some help to a newbie, by all means, join in right here. Check out the general board as well, and join in on the discussions there. You can also wander around on the other regional boards. Some are more active than others, and have some pretty good discussions going on.

Board participation is a big help.  Show that you can follow the rules & who ever moderates your posts will be happy to unmoderate you.  It's a PITA for responding to posts as it can take 24 hours to get your reply up as often the conversation has moved on.  
READ the Newbie manual (Link at the top of this board)  for details about putting a TER logo & link back on your web site (a requirement).  For now, you can still advertise on your local board 1 ad per 7 days.  Just allow an extra day for your review to go up (after being reviewed).  

You will not get a profile page until you get your first review.  You can then message the admin to get it linked to your membership & FREE limited VIP which includes FREE access to PM system.  (You can buy VIP & get PM access until then.)
