Which forum for a fashion question?

I  had a thread in the General forum asking the ladies a fashion question, but the thread was not allowed. I was told it belonged in another forum, but the moderator didn't say which one, and I can't find one that seems right.

So, which one?

whats going on here. Try your local regional board. Maybe you should request a Fashion Board. That can be done on the S&P board.

If your question was just about general fashion and not related to sex or the hobby, then it doesn't belong on TER at all. Read the top of the general board.  All discussion should be hobby, sex, or erotica related. Now if your question was about what to wear during a session, or clothing requests for providers etc., then it is not only allowed to be discussed, but it has been discussed numerous times in the past.

I was asking for recommendations for an online clothing store for a dress for my current provider.

Yeah, that would be considered pretty far afield for most TER boards. Except maybe General Discussion, and then you'd just get a long thread attacking and, to a lesser degree, defending you giving a provider a dress.   While I'm not endorsing giving this gift (or any gift... no more than I'd bring my barber a necktie) it's of course up to you.

So my advice?  You could ask her where she likes to shop for clothes.   Some providers also have a "wish list" section of their website where they list stuff they would like guys to buy for them.  Or get her a gift certificate at a nice local department store with a big selection.

It's not for her,  it's for me. I want to see her in a short, tight red dress. :)

Seems like a perfectly suitable question for the General forum. Better than "what book are you reading?".

Good recommendation...This tight red dress is freaking awesome.

I should get an extra large one, just for myself, and put it on backwards. My pecker will probably go right through those straps.

Thanks! Just what I was looking for.

That is not a suitable question for the GD board. And neither is the book one. However there is a forum here to discuss books (the "media" board), but none for fashion. Feel free to make a suggestiin on the S&P board.

Just because you were looking for a dress for a provider doesn't make it hobby related. I kniw you actually found an answer her now anyway, but it seems to me your search would have been better on google anyway vs TER.

The tone of your reply suggests that you might be a moderator here.

Anyway, given that I'm looking to get a dress for my favorite provider, and people who know me know I'm divorced and without a girlfriend, who am I going to ask? It seemed to me that providers would have better knowledge of such things, and where there's good places to shop.

I'll make a suggestion for a new forum for clothes and accessories and see how that goes.

Naaa, at least I don't think so. I thought moderators were in red or something. This is just someone that needs to lighten up a little.

Asking which forum would be appropriate for a certain question is fair game on the newbie board. At least I think so since I am not the moderator either.

It might have been how you worded the original post. Asking something like, "I have a special provider that I would like to get a gift for, does anyone know of a good website to pick up a hot red dress?" This sounds perfectly hobby related to me. It's better then half the junk on the general board.

I'm not sure it is so far off topic as to justify that response.  Feels borderline, and this is the newbie board, where I really like that the tone swim particularly but many others, including, usually, perfectstorm, sets.  Usually really welcoming.

Here's how I might have asked this, for the OP.

"Providers: you all sometimes show up in the hottest, tiny, slutty revealing dresses, clearly there's some secret store for high-end trashy clothes.  I've looked around online but am having trouble finding something very specific -- short red dress with a lace up back.  Do any of you have any great sites you use for the kind of non-mainstream clothing, or know where I can find this particular style?"

No guarantee it would make it through or you'd appreciate the responses, but it is more likely to work than generically asking where to buy a provider a dress online.

Also, you want to be careful both with your own thinking and with posts referencing "my provider" particularly if you're buying dresses (though I did one time tip for a girl buying a Santa's helper fishnet thing at Christmas).  It's P4P, you don't probably want to start thinking of yourself as in a special relationship. Just my $0.02 on that front.

I don't know anything about anything, So I like looking for things that can help me relate better, communicate, give the best service I possibly can give, Oh & hopefully share my experiences that will help others have more pleasurable drama free experiences....with that being said..... I'm really shocked at your response for the person to look on google, whereas the provider he likes to frequent probably is also a member of ter.
I would think this is the best place to ask since there's isn't really alot of places a hobbiest can go & communicate with providers openly & also with other hobbists who I would think he's showing respect for the opinions of the other hobbiests by asking here....
I'm just surprised that the question wouldn't be alowed, there's a ton of threads I pass up.
I think it also promotes, generosity as well as respect for us providers showing his appreciation for his provider by buying her something to help fullfill his fantasy, instead of just expecting her to add to her expenses to entertain him...

If I sounded harsh. My reply wasn't meant to be. And no I am not a moderator. There actually are no moderators on TER anymore. Swimtrekr is the "host" of the newbie forum, (you will notice his name in red) but he doesn't have the ability to "moderate" people. Only admin does.

While I am not a moderator, I have been a member of TER for many many years (since the beginning basically) and I am very familiar with most of their policies, so I am speaking from that perspective. I still feel your question wasn't appropriate on the general board. (the fact that it was pulled means that is also what admin thought)

Now as I said in my previous reply, and someone else mentioned  elsewhere in this thread, it depends what you asked and how you asked it. I never saw the post in question, so I can only guess at what it said based on your earlier post. It sounds to me like it was sonething like, "Where is the best place to buy a dress for my provider?" if that is the case, other than the word "provider" that is still not hobby related. It is no different than, "where can I buy a dress for my wife/girlfriend/friend/daughter/a woman.

I still think if you just googled that question you would get tons of answers.

Now if you said something like, "I have been seeing a certain provider for a while and I am planning to buy her a dress that I would like her to wear on our next date. Do any providers out there have any suggestions of where is the best place to shop online for something like that?"

Now to you that may not have sounded much different, but I would bet that admin would let the second one slide as being topic related.

I "might" have allowed it, depending on my mood, and also depending on whether the poster was a troll or not. It would also depend on how busy or slow the board was that day. Part of the mods job in the past was to encourage the board to be lively, one of the reasons for "amnesty" day.

In short, even as someone who used to make these decisions every day, I don't have a clear cut answer to this one. Sorry.
