As said it is better for the environment and in this city the fastest way to get around. I can get from my place to downtown DC, the White House in 7 minutes. Try and drive it...it will take you at least 30 minutes then where are you going to park? We also have millions of taxi cabs so getting around is a breeze.
About the only thing I haven't done is taken a ship to see a lady. I would not worry about taking public transportation. In some places like NY, PT is the most effective and convenient. Many ladies will use cabs for outcalls.
You should however tip off a provider that you will be arriving by PT, that way she gives you a more exact location of where she is located. You don't want a 30 min walk to her place during the winter time, you will freeze your butt off besides being late.

to the airport and then the hotel shuttle from the airport to the hotel. The shuttle driver looked at me kinda funny since I had no bags. Since, I always carry at least a briefcase.
