Yes, it is very different.
TER does not host image files. Image files take up too much disc storage space and require a lot of bandwidth to send. Other websites provide image hosting services (imagecoast, pinterest, ...).
Your post can contain a link (a string of characters: not a lot of disc storage space). When someone clicks on your post on their browser, TER sends them the TER info (TER template, TER icons, TER text, your words) but their computer requests the picture from the image hosting site.
The picture must be on a publically accessible site (imagecoast, etc.) so the request for the picture can be fulfilled. Your iPhone is not set up as a server (and you probably don't want it to be) so a request for a pic on your phone (or any private, secure website) will generate some kind of error: File Not Found; Unable to Access File Location; ....
From your iPhone, you can upload a pic to your own account on imagecoast or other file sharing website. Then link the imagecoast picture URL into your TER post.

I'm usually on my iPhoney. Is that a little different. I would assume so since it's a mobile device. Or can I even post pics on mobile devices?
Edit: Going to your reply to mrfisher: You say you find a funny pic using google, use your iPhone to take a picture of the picture ... SKIP ALL THAT.
Find a picture on google. Right click, "copy image location" and make sure it is the actual picture file (jpg, gif, png) and some some script or other non-image url (html, asp, ...). Paste that into your TER post. Leave your iPhone out of it altogether.
