Swim,

Originally, I had posted that in the General Discussion, but TER stated that it looked like an ad.

I said... "Huh??"

TER reconsidered and moved it to the Newbie Forum, which still doesn't make sense, but whatever works.

Providers esp should read that list.  It might save them from a bunch of headaches at hotels.

Hey Folks,

Going to a hotel in the near future?

Here are some great tips for you to look for.

Yes, there's a tip or two that both hobbyists and providers can learn from.

When I travelled from AL to MN, a couple of places I didn't have a hotel booked, I just wanted to drive til I was ready to stop.   So I would get to a town that I liked and start making calls -  I would ask what their rate was and if they had any available rooms - and then tell them "sorry I only have $50 to spend on a room" and every single time the person on the other end - took that.

I was calling the day that I wanted the room and they were slow and they would rather take my $50 than have the room sit empty.  One hotel I went to had only rented three rooms that night, I enjoyed a hot tub and indoor heated swimming pool - all to myself.

at Hotels. Rack rates are the highest charged for the room in any season.  Often rediculous.    So rediculous that some Hotels only charge them to walk ins when they have one or two rooms left.   This isn't necessarily always the case with motels.  Remember your AAA card gets you a discount in most places.
.

you have time.

As far as calling directly, I have a little story.
I had a friend who I shared a boat with in Mission Bay.  He wanted to spend the night at a Marriot instead of on the boat or my house for a change.  I drove him over to the hotel without knowing he hadn't a reservation. He came out complaining it was way to high, so I called them from my car in their parking lot and got a considerably lower price.

Don't kid yourself that they don't know what is going on, but at minimum wage who would bite the hand that feeds you. I always leave a thank you note, a nice tip,  a snack, and leftover wine from the evening. My regulars know I do this, and they always throw in a few bucks for the maid's tip. Then after I have left, I always make a point to leave a positive review raving how excellent the cleaning staff is, and make sure to name specific house keepers. I have also left bottles of expensive wine for hotel managers.

Two things here. You should not have leftover wine and would you drink someone's trash? I do what any nice girl would do. I tip them with a smile and a smack on the bottom!

I would rather leave it behind then finish it, or take it with me. A DUI, or an opened container violation is not something I want to deal with. I leave it in the room away from my usual tip, and it's up to house keeping whether they want to drink on the job, or not.

I was joking. I don't think housekeeping is going to drink your leftover wine, but the image in my head is hilarious. Rosa drinking your booze is hilarious.

stood and watched a very hot doubles session for 15 min, she is most definitely having a few sips of my leftover booze, hahahahaha! On that note, back to the op. Here is another hotel tip- high end hotels have turn down service around 5pm. You may think you are in the clear for cleaning staff, not so. Always lock the deadbolt, unless you want your stay comped. In that case, stand by the door naked around 9:30 am.

A Fav lady tells me that the Hotel Manager has hinted he knows what's she's doing there...  which she did not confirm to him/her.   But certainly tip well.   It's a nice gesture for clients to add a few bucks to the maid's tip...
