Depending where you are BP does have some well reviewed and respected TER ladies that use it. Just do your research and USE TER. Most of the women on BP are fakes or flakes though.
So chalk this one to newbie stupidity. Made appointment with provider from BP for an outcall. Pretty typical ad so I thought. Provider shows up, takes the envelop and have me sign a receipt and then tells me service is strictly restricted to providing date companionship and nothing more! So, the question is: Has anyone ever experienced this and how does one go about, when sorting through the BP ads, distinguishing this type of service from the other kind? In hindsight I guess I should have discussed the specifics/expectations during the brief phone call with the provider, but I thought the etiquette is not to. You know maybe I just got snookered.
Only see reviewed ladies, its your own fault. If you see a BP girl who has no reviews your lucky it wasnt worse.
Sorry but its the truth.
First, you don't go by "typical ads" as you found out that means nothing. You don't mention doing any homework on this girl at all I.e. checking her review history here. That is the main function TER serves.
Second, if you do the above correctly, there is no need to "discuss the specifics". You don't do that for this is a illegal activity and you will freak out the girl into thinking you are a cop or really inexperienced at best, which also makes them worry.
Third, never sign anything. Ever. That's written evidence. You are very fortunate you weren't part of a sting. You are lucky you only got ripped off.
Fourth, don't beat ur self up over this. But you do need to get educated. Buy a VIP membership here ASAP. Only see girls with lots of reviews whose reviewers have seen lots of ladies.
Fifth, write a review about this girl and make sure for performance you give her a "1", which is a total ripoff. You will get 15 free days of VIP membership and you will be letting the next guy know not to guy that fraud.
Sixth, did this girl verify you? Did you have to give her references? If you don't have any you need to go to p411 or date check and sign up with them if you want to see legit ladies.
Seventh, read the self help center on newbie board page in upper right corner next to lifer preserver. Also read the last few months history on this board.
If you want to see quality women, not get ripped off and not end up in the pokey, follow these steps and you'll be fine. Do all that, then come back here with any more questions you may have. Good luck!
Thank you (and everyone else) for the advice! I thought I did do my homework but I guess it wasn't enough. I did check the TER reviews and she was never reviewed. That said, there has to be a first time for providers. I'll just chalk this one up as "taking one for the team." I will follow-up with a review here so hopefully no member will go through this.
stick with TER..stay away from BP altogether..it is full of scams..up sells..bait and switch..dope dealers..pimps..LE stings..if you value your wallet and your personal safety..avoid BP like the plague..and that is exactly what it is..a plague..

Thanks for the BP advice!
you made the classic newbie mistakes. One, trusting Backpage, Two, no research, and Three, you never read the self help center. While I sympathize with your situation, you are the classic example of what not to do, sorry pal, but you are. If you had come here first, you could have avoided all your mistakes. Sorry you learned an expensive lesson.
Ask here first!!!!! We can help you!!!!!!
Swim
Sorry, but if you paid attention at all to the advice given here to ALL newbies, that probably wouldn't have happened. You just learned an expensive lesson, but consider yourself lucky that that is all it was. It could have been much worse! You could have been robbed of more than the envelop, or god knows what else. You can perhaps take some solace in that you are not the first, nor, I daresay the last!
Let me break it down. BP is full of flakes, fakes, and scammers. Never believe that a BP ad is "typical". While some legitimat providers advertise on BP, there are much better places to look for providers like right here on TER, but if you MUST use BP, then you MUST also do your research! That means, at the very least googling her number, and photos to see where else they come up, or if they are even real. Then check here for any reviews!! No reviews - No see!! You are right in that you should not discuss specifics or other details in a phone call or email. That is why you check for reviews, and only deal with reliable providers who have reviews. This way you know what service she provides based on her history, and can tell if that matches with what you want.
So, invest in a VIP membership on TER. Read the Self Help center! Read the other posts here to newbies about seeing ONLY reviewed providers. Invest in P411 or some other verification site (you can also search for providers in your area on there), but still come back here to check reviews. Don't know what your rate was for this BP girl, but it probably would have covered all of the above. And you would have been so much better off.
Now go get back on the horse!

Because at the end of the day, if she is advertising on BP, it's not gonna be hard to build a case that says she was exchanging sex for money.
She was trying to scam the OP, and scare him away from any kind of retaliation by getting his signature.
Hey, OP - DC, right?
You could sign anything with any name.
that this is a scam that I have seen practiced in Washington DC, although I'm sure it is used in other places.
The chick senses a newbie or nervous guy and gets him to sign her "receipt". She figures he won't make trouble because she has his signature on a receipt that he is not likely to claim is for sex.
It's not about whether you can see through the scam or figure out ways around it, it's about a scam that I've seen perpetrated on timid guys.

I am not going to continue to argue with you on the newbie board. You give your advice, I'll give mine, and I'll leave your posts alone.
She has a guy sign some release. The release says that they aren't exchanging money for sex.
Most guys aren't gonna sign their real name, so what risk are they taking on? And the provider has no real protection, because there was already communication initiated by someone answering some kinda ad or website that is clearly advertising sex for money.
So what has been accomplished here on either side? Absolutely nothing.
That's what I am having a hard time understanding. What scam are you referring to? If there is a scam here, I am missing something.
If you want to get snippety because you can't discuss the issues, far be it for me to waste my time trying to discuss something that I cannot for the life of me understand is a "scam," as you claim.
Do you think he got scammed? He hired a provider, she fgot him to sign something, THEN told him he wasn't getting any sex, just a date. Do you think that's a scam?
He just said he had to sign a release, basically saying that the compensation was for companionship. The interpretation I got was that IF they fucked, it wasn't because he paid her. And that was what the release was for.
But, as I stated in my original reply, this affords neither party protection at all. If one side of the transaction is a cop, the other side is already busted. Chances are good that the guy answered an ad that basically suggested sex for money simply because of where it was placed.
In any event, this is my intrepretation because I have seen all sorts of shit doing this for 20+ years. One was a girl selling a bottle of massage oil and demonstrating it, and that anything that happened during the demonstration was consensual between two adults. This was the contents of a release I was asked to sign at a bodyrub place way back when in the Laurel Canyon section of LA many, many years ago.
But after reading it again, I think the wording that he got "snookered" does in fact suggest that he got no sex. So I can see where you are coming from now.
The best advise is for newbies to only see well reviewed providers. I have not heard the reciept twist before... accomplishes nothing except the intimidation factor. When it comes to the 'moment of meeting' both parties have to trust the other. Does the reciept say "YOU'VE BEEN SNOOKERED"? It might as well. It saves her from having to physically run.
About the same as arriving & after the transaction, she says "I'm not in the mood!"
By all means, write review... but don't be surprised when she disappears only to resurface with a new stage name & phone number. THIS is why TER is so VALUEABLE, protecting clients & reputable providers. You must learn to research properly, to read reviews, to stick to well reviewed providers... You will need VIP for the time you are making up your bucket list. It is way cheaper than even one spoiled date.
Thanks everyone for all the comments and advice! Some real useful ones too. Believe me this is a lesson learned that I will not soon forget. I have submitted a review into TER that hopefully will be posted soon.

This was well before there even was a TER, and calling a number in the Yellow Pages was my SOP when I was in a strange city.
But I got lucky on the second number I tried and found a really nice gal for FBSM. I had her come back each night and by the third and final night, we graduated to PSE. Hotcha!
I saw your review and Felicity's Profile. It's a good read. ("Services: no, no, no, no, no, ..." hah hah!) Thanks for posting.
However ... Her ad looks like a regular escort ad and doesn't say anything about "massage only" or "no full service" or anything like that. On the other hand, the rate (160/h) seems kind of low to PRESUME full service, especially in DC.
I THINK it's OK to ask for clarification of an ad like that in fairly general, non-explicit terms. You'll get a quick hang-up or similar treatment if you blatantly ask, "Are your blow jobs covered or bareback?" But "Do you provide full service?" is more vague and provides wiggle room. If you don't like that, "Is this massage only?" might evoke a careful, "That's between you and your masseuse." (The ad said NOTHING about massage, I'm just using that as an example.)
In your case, the Q should have been "Do I get ANYTHING for my $160?????"
But, as many have said, STICK TO PROVIDERS WELL REVIEWED on TER.
