I have said this many times, 'look wherever you want, but you got to do the research'.  By research, I mean check the pictures, the phone number, look for reviews, etc.  We guys have to watch out for our safety just as providers do by screening.  

While it's true that much has been said about the perils of backpage, I know of numerous good providers that advertise there.  Any site for provider ads will have its share of ripoffs, scam artists, and just plain bad providers.  Doing the research will help to minimize the likelihood of seeing a bad one.

I use it, it's fast and inexpensive and has a wider variety of men, those who do this often, those who don't and those who've never done it because they thought most of the ads look scary.

I would recommend it provided you put some thought into your post - have a TER ID, write it with a clear and level headed voice, if you have a site spell out the site, I don't think you can directly say it but you can do a (dotcom) thing.

And of course, be able to screen, be prepared for "newbies".

Hobbyist perspective

While it's true that a large portion of the ads on BP are fake,  you can find some of the mid to top tier providers on BP.  It just won't be their only ad site.

We concerned hobbyists use other venues as well to do our research.  If I find a lady on BP I think is interesting I check here to see if she has reviews, Check if they have a website,  Google the number, Google the pictures if they look to good to be true...etc.  No info, no see.

The ones who are posting reviews about bad experiences probably did zero research and consequently paid the price.  These gentleman are often thinking with the wrong head.

I'm not sure if you are aware of this but many of these here hobbyists are easily distracted by bright shiny objects. =)

Use it if you wish, I see you have a couple of good reviews,  smart hobbyists will check, and as always, safety first

If you plan on charging 400 plus, and marketing yourself as educated and upscale, using backpage is a huge contradiction to that image. You will spend more time weeding through time wasters and dipshits than any other site, and your rate will have to be below the average provider in your area. For FBSM providers, it's more of a higher caliber of clients because they are not going in thinking they are getting laid for a mere 200 bucks.  

If you just want to play around with this business and try it out, it could work, but also realize that backpage is targeted more by the cops than just about any other advertising site because it is not for adults only. I would never advise someone with a brand in mind to use BP. If you just want random hook ups for cheap, go for it, but it's not a smart business decision unless you are in an area where that is the ONLY site you can use. It's just got a stigma that's never going to go away, and I would not want to be listed among those providers.  

The reason you see so many guys using it and then bitching about it, is because they went cruising for cheap ass and got burned. Why would a 500 dollar escort want to list with 80 dollar truck stop hookers? Nuff said. You pretty much have to be under 400 to get any business from there, when you could list on another site for double that and do just fine. Are there good providers on backpage? Yes, but compare their reviews to others... you're rarely seeing 8, 9, and 10s consistently, which equates to more money. Guys who go cruising for bargains also grade the hardest and expect the most. Ha, no fkin thanks.  

As for BP being cheap... um, compared to what? At 10 bucks an ad, 3x a week, that's 120 bucks a month... 5 days a week is 200 a month, which is about what an ad in NY would cost on Eros.  An Eros ad where I live is only 25 a MONTH lol.  TER is Free, P411 is Free, and DC is Free up to a point, so I disagree with it being cheap, unless you only place on ad a week in which case, it falls off the page in less  than a few hours.
