I think there are some different expectations for those who bill themselves as "courtesons" versus those who bill themselves as escorts.
I'm sure you know the difference, but I will specify it anyway (as I understand the difference someone else can feel free to correct any mistatement I make here). An escort trades a singular block of time for a set amount, and thus enduth the relationship obligations. A courteson however, is expected to maintain cordial relations between dates, perhaps act as an email sounding board, maybe take a few phone calls, but largely be more than a hourly diversion for someone.
So, If i were looking at doing this, what I'd do is find myself a good mentor in the businesses - someone who explicity bills herself as a courtesan AND delivers the level of servie you'd like to deliver.
The main question I would ask, specific to the courtesan role and stipulating you are doing all the advertising, screening smart stuff, is "what is my service level obligation and at what point should I pull out of the additional level of service?" Clearly, if someone hasn't seen you in two years, there wouldn't be any reasonable expectation of you trading lengthy emails. However, an expectatonn that he show up at your apartment every week is probably excesive as well. You'll need to find that balance,and a mentor will help you.
I would probably suggest you email a couple of girls who live in different cities and ask if you can ask a few questions. One of them will probably respond. You can also probably learn a lot by poking around on their websites.

There are still some modern day courtesans, but the ones I have encountered do very little advertising and are pretty much under the radar.
Don't be surprised if you begin doing your thing, an they end up contacting you. In the meantime, there is alot of great people and information to be found here.
However, to maintain a courtesan lifestyle through dating as an escort, you might want to censor men who are merely looking to just get laid, and those types are not always easy to weed out.
