I walked in to the apartment, and the doorman at the front desk asked me for the ID. He said it was a new procedure implemented a few days ago by the new owner of the building. Since i was nervous, i have him all my info, room number, and the name of the person i was visiting. I asked the provider a few minutes later about the check and she said "don't worry about it"
Thanks!

First, I would not be paranoid; I would feel safe.
What concerns me about this post, is that the lady who has never met you, has no issue allowing you past security. When did she check your ID? Also, who did you tell the desk you were visiting? Did the lady give you her real name? My front desk knows nothing of my alias.
I live in a secure building, and all first dates are greeted in the foyer of the building. This saves the gentleman from having to show his ID, and sign in at the front desk. If he chooses to visit with me in the future, I leave his "name" at the desk, he can just come on up, as he will have my name.
Please do not flame me for giving out my real info, but since I have the gentleman's, it's only fair he has mine. I assure you, if a gentleman wants to find out your true identity, he can. I work part time in the private sector, and visit with a few gentlemen per week, so there is not a steady stream of traffic to my apartment.
