My experience has been that it is a social gathering primarily. The ones I have attended take place at a public venue like a resstaurant or pub so things are pretty laid back.
We mix and mingle, laugh and just get to meet each other in a social setting. Sure sometimes arrangements are made and couples, or trios, slip away together, but mostly it is a chance to see the other in person and see if the chemistry is good.
But yes there are sometimes event that take place in a hotel bar and many have already taken rooms upstairs so they can conviently go upstairs with a lady or two of their liking.
Sometimes they are held in private homes with naughty games and door prizes, blow job contest, etc. But I refrain from that crowd in general. Not that I am a prude but generally I only know a limited number of the folks there and prefer to keep things like that with a group of folks I know and trust.
Getting invited to a M&G can be difficult for a newbie because references from a lady in attendance is frequently required.
Since this is a newbie board maybe this is not too dumb a question. Is a meet and greet just what is says. Is it a large party to meet someone you would like to see in private in the future, or do private sessions also take place?

I've gotten BJs at M&Gs, and know guys who've been fucked in bathroom stalls at M&GS. I've oftentimes been invited to "after parties" that are fun, and wild! M&Gs are what you make of them. They usually have hors d'oeuvres, and cocktails. Guys usually pay, and ladies don't. Go to one, and have fun.
I've been to a few in Las Vegas, and they were all held in private places. That does lead towards more "mingling", but they are still primarily for meeting and greeting. I think I've seen some degree of nudity at each one of them. They've helped me get a better feeling for a lady that I was on the fence about, and I've also made friends with some of the guys.
Having said all that, Las Vegas is probably not a good representation of the real world. We burn a little hotter than some places, and the locals are a pretty tight group.
I've been to 3 M & G. Two were held in a hotel suite and one was in a hotel meeting room set cocktail reception style. The events in the suite were a little more private so there was more flirting.
In some cases I had a date lined up for afterwards. You can wait until the M & G and see what catches your eye. Just have an envelope with you with enough cash for a multi-hr. date and/or a threesome.
Usually no "hanky panky" goes on for many reasons. First, if its held at a residence, in the event of LE, the host does not want to be charged with operating a brothel. If in a public venue such as a hotel, unless you have reserved a room at that hotel the organizers do not want to take any chances. If at a restaurant or bar, management normally frowns on public indecency. lol
What they do offer, a chance to meet ladies "face-to-face." Perhaps they blur their photos. If so, you can see the real face. Or perhaps you are shy and getting a chance to talk to a provider or two will make it easier for you when you do set up an appointment.
Just use your common sense about attending. If its at a public place and you live in the area, you take a chance of a "friend of the family" seeing you there and telling your S/O.
