- Yes, there is a last appointment of the night. Providers, especially with agencies, have a specific cutoff time [they need to sleep too], and if you ask, and it's available, there should be no problem. It varies from provider to provider so do ask.
- Contact her as far in advance as possible, making sure to follow up at least the day before the appointment. Make sure she has a way to contact you if plans change on her end. If you have an SO or work-provided phone or PDA, I'd recommend a disposable phone just for the hobby, like a GoPhone or Tracfone.
- It never hurts to have a Plan B. Look up reputable agencies in the area that you might be able to make quick arrangements with if Plan A falls through.
- If you do your homework, your enjoyment will outweigh your disappointments. When you find the right provider, and there are many, the real thing is definitely better!
Keep in mind that some providers insist on a 1-hour maximum with new clients to see if they "click." 2-3 hours is a long time if your personalities don't mesh. So don't be insulted if she does not opt for a 2-3 hour session.
Well now that I have read the post below about all the problems I am getting concerned about a few details. Over the course of the last month I have read the manual and most of the posts. I think I have done my homework. In about a month I am traveling to Las Vegas on a conference. I have picked a independent GFE provider (high end)well reviewed. I plan on booking 2-3 hours. Anyway I can't bear the thought of doing all this planning in advance and ending with a canceled appointment. I know things can come up but I would hate to have a problem because a regular comes 1st etc. Question: Is there such a thing as the last appointment of the night? Also how far in advance should I contact the provider? Anything else I can do? Do I need a back-up? Or is the fantasy better than the real thing considering all the disappointments?

You didn't mention how you plan on getting past screening. I live in Vegas and most of the high end indies here will require either a provider reference, membership in one of those date check services, or at least employment verification. Assuming you get past that and have a confirmed date booked, you should be golden. In the event that she has to cancel, most would be happy to refer you to another provider she knows of similar caliber, without any further screening. It's up to you if you want to be that flexible.
You didn't mention whether you've got VIP here either. If you haven't read detail reviews of the provider(s) you've got in mind, then you haven't finished your homework. I think you want to know exactly what to expect, that way the chance of disappointment is damn low.
Bring some names and numbers of other indies you might need as a backup. It's not that tough to make a few phone calls and hope for a call back.
The only good agency in Vegas is banned on TER. If you can't find out which one it is, avoid agencies at all costs or you will be pissed.
This all sounds worse than it really is. Most of the time, everything goes smoothly and you'll be awfully glad you took the plunge.
Most Providers supply them themselves. However it's always good to be prepared I've only seen 8 providers since I've started hobbying. All but one provided covers themselves. One asked if I had any. That was an outcall to my place and I did. Incalls I normally bring two just in case.
