The photo board is there to show us what you got....
If you have a good look post photos we like, we vote for you by liking the photo.  
Any time you get your name and image out the it can be considered a form of advertising. I have seen more than one lady mostly because of the way she conducted herself on the boards.

I think I know some answers to your questions.

The Photo board is for advertising yourself via photos. There's restrictions on what you can post there (see the rules here: http://www.theeroticreview.com/discussion_boards/viewmsg.asp?boardID=33&Messageid=75538) but it's ads in photo form.  

You get people to "Like" your photos by posting great photos!    Review a few days worth of photos and notice the Likes; that may give you some idea what guys tend to like.  

Tip:  for the most exposure to your pics and most potential Likes, post each day as early as possible.

...on your local board.  The "Likes" are added up at the end of the month and the one with the most could become Ms. TER (there are other factors too).

I've noticed that the pics of myself which I like best are usually not the ones that men like best.... a great way for me to learn what works (and what doesn't) is by posting to the Photo Only board and keeping track of my Likes.

Last month, I posted every day and then at the end of the month I went back through them all and took note of which poses/angles and types of pics got more Likes than others.   There were some definite patterns there, so now I can put that information to good use in my next photo session.  

People will vote of their own volition.  At first, I didn't mention to anyone that I was posting there but then a few of my regulars brought it up and told ME they'd been clicking Like every day.  So then I started mentioning it to other regular clients and now I tweet about it whenever I post a new pic (one that's not on my site or ads) to the daily thread.  
Using social media to send people here and Like your photos seems pretty common.  

Yes, it is a form of advertising. People who ordinarily wouldn't have found me have become interested after following my pic posts.  That seems to be typical.  You'll also likely start getting tour requests, too!  

It also figures in to the criteria TER uses to select the monthly Ms.TER  so if that's a goal for you, then post as early in the day as you can.
