I'm sure everybody has their own guideline.  For me, within the past year.

Hi there,
I  have been away for the last 15 months (Afghanistan)and I don’t know if I need to start all over from scratch or is it is okay to still use the couple of references that  I generated before I left. I wouldn’t expect that the couple of people that I met with remember who am,  I so I it’s unfair to put them in that position. However, I don’t really want to start over from the beginning with no references. I can’t be the only one to be in this situation? Sorry if this has been posted before ( I looked in recent posts) ?

they remember you and if they would be a reference.

Tell the new ladies your whole situation, that the ref is old, etc. some may not like that, some may ask for more info, just keep looking.

Think about date-check, preferred 411.

If you liked the the previous ladies, maybe a refresher would jar their memories?  If you're not interested, call & ask if they'd refrance for you.
Thank you for your service.

unless you ask. If you contact one of the ladies that you saw, give her a little information that might jog her memory. Tell her exactly why it's been so long. You just may have stood out in her mind, and she'll remember you. You could also ask her for another date, and you'll have a more recent reference. In the meantime, you might also think about joining Date-Check or Preferred411.

I'm sure everybody has their own guideline.  For me, within the past year.
