Hi, I'm new to the board as well as the hobby and I was all excited and ready to book with a provider in the Los Angeles area, but upon reading the forums it seems like you won't get any decent provider to see you without a screening. Naturally that's a good thing because I makes it safe and secure for everyone, but in my case I make glass artwork for a living and sometimes I design websites part time. Both jobs are self-employment. That doesn't give me a solid job reference and I haven't been with any providers on TER yet.
I have only done this one time before with a provider from the LAweekly paper that didn't ask for any type of reference. Likewise I don't even think she knew about agencies and screening and all that stuff so I don't think I can ask her to reference me.
I know I'm not giving a whole lot to work with but I really really would appreciate any advise on the situation. I'm willing to give any information a provider ask for but I just don't have much to give other than my name, phone number and website urls.
Many ladies will accept sites like date-check and preferred 411 as references. You might have some difficulties getting verified with them without work info, though. Still, might be worth a shot.

I'm sure most reputable providers will give you a reference. If you're in doubt, when you contact her initially you could ask, "do you give references to gentlemen with whom you've had a successful date?"
Obviously she can't guarantee you a reference before you meet, but I'm sure she'll be able to advise you of her policy in general.
