A lot of these could be bait-and-switch scams. The provider in the ad/picture winds up not being the one who answers the door. It's also possible that someone else is using the providers name/phone number without her knowledge. Just a thought. jhb
I'm sure I'm not alone here but I've come across providers with: 1. ads placed in multiple locations that differ in terms of services offered. 2. Bad phone & email contact information 3. being hung up on when trying to find out what's what. 4. rates that differ from one ad location to the next.
Even a number of TER reviewed providers who list their services have said "I no longer do that", or worse, " who said I do that"?
Just this week I found a provider in my area who's rates, services and recent reviews match my interest. Her phone # is bad so I emailed but it takes days to hear back and I was trying to schedule things in advance based on my daily schedule.
Why does there seem to be so many flakes and so many who's info can differ between ad sites? and what can I do to avoid the awkwardness of asking?

On some sites, I would plug in my year of birth, and after the fact it showed my age being a year off.
On some sites, I might need to retype my birthday if I ever need to retrieve my password. So if I fake the year of my birth to make up the mistake on the site, chances are I will never remember what year I needed to type in to get my correct age.
So sometimes mistakes are honest ones, or at least trying to put the correct info out there.
Thanks for the replies ... for me it's the combination of locating the right provider ( based on what she submits ) but then often finding conflicted information, i.e., price and/or services. On one site the provider lists her rates that can differ from her rates & services elsewhere. I try limiting my focus to providers with a fair number of TER reviews but then there are those who also list on CraigsList and/or CityVibe, that's where most of the conflicts occur.
I guess without TER things would really be hit & miss so I'm grateful it's a tool I can use, I only wish that all providers were dependable.
