I have GPS unit and I just ask the provider to give an address close. You could do the same thing and then google it. I've never had a provider take issue with this.
A provider I want to meet with (incall) is located in the philadelphia airport region, but i've never been to that area. i'm used to getting an address i'm tryign to find a few hours in advance so I can googlemap it.
do providers give you directions and expect you to be able to follow them, or how far in advance do you ussually get them?
I got an email a few days before with a general well known corner to go to and call from there. I was also asked to call that morning to confirm the appointment. She asked if I understood the email instructions. When I called from the location she gave very good directions from there to her incall location.

and I get the name and address of it at least several days before so that I can mapquest it.
If it is an apartment, she ought to at least get you an address for the location she wants you to contact her from if she is doing the two call routine.
From there it's usually a block or two away to her building and she can easily talk you over to it.
If it's an apartment or house, she'll probably be able to give you an address once she's finished her screening. (That's going to be a standard thing -- no addresses for unscreened clients for anything besides massage parlors.) Before that, she won't be any more specific than "I'm in Neighborhood X".
If she's got a planned hotel visit already set up, either by making an advance reservation or by already being in the hotel, I've usually been told something like "Hotel Z in that cluster of hotels out by the airport -- can you find that?". I've sometimes set up an appointment with a visitor before she got her specific room booked, so she might have to call me once she knows exactly where she's going to be.
Generally, I've just been given addresses, as they figure I'm going to find my own way from wherever I'm coming from. If it was in an area that was complicated, and I told her that I was new to the area, I'd hope she could give me some basic directions, but if the area is new to her as well, she might not know it any better than I do. I did get some more exact directions once when I was coming to visit a dorm room, but that was obviously a special case.
I won't allow friends to Mapquest my address - first because Mapquest sends my friends two blocks away in many cases. Second, I do NOT want directions to my house to be accidentally left on someone's printer, in their email, on the desktop...
There was one fellow I refused to meet because although I'd never met him, he saved my address and directions to my incall for over a year in his email account. THAT put me at risk and I expect a level of discretion at least a fraction of what I extend to my friends. That also created several immediate policy changes on my end...
You will find that even those of us who refuse to give more than a nearby intersection will still be able to give great directions in able to find us. Trust me, we WANT to meet you! : )
A lot depends on the provider. Some are very organized with directions (me), since if you can't find them they aren't going to get paid. Others are worse with directions than they are at driving. Just joking ladies...
Most providers won't give out their street address for GPS. If the gents flakes out he's got her address. Or sometimes guys will show up early and sit in their car, which attracts attention from neighborhood watch and other busy bodies.
If it's a hotel usually she will give you the hotel, then when you arrive you will get the room number.
I'm seeing a lady later this month who gave me the block number and street name so I could mapquest it. She also gave a phone number to call to get the exact address when I arrive.
directions on how to get there from a certain point (generally a well known location)... However, they will not give you directions a few days in advance for you to make a "test drive."
Usually I get the "general location" info the day before, or morning of. When you get to that location, you call, and she gives you final directions. You may call one more time when you get there to get the room number.
If she doesn't tell me in advance, I usually ask when should I expect to receive general directions.
I'll bail the next time a provider tries to lead me on an easter egg hunt: go here then call. ok now 2 more blocks then call. turn right 2 more blocks then call. at complex, go to building xx then call.
The 2 call system is understandable and reasonable. But any more is just a red flag warning.
