Vegas,

I asked the same question when I first started and got hammered because it was a bad idea.  I didn't get it at the time but now I do.  Both things you point out are concerns...to be honest I'm more concerned about the fraud piece of it than LE.  If LE busts her chances are they aren't going to dig into her accounts for old clients...but they might.

It also depends how she takes the payment.  If you directly give her the number I'd be more concerned, some providers have a pay-pal merchant account.  In those cases the providers never sees the number.  You remit to paypal and they remit to the provider so its a bit safer.  I did pay one provider through paypal, its a very long story but she was a repeat and the circumstances were very strange.

Worst case scenario...cash advance the $$$, bitch about the fees and interest, and make sure you have the cash in hand next time.

I am still pretty new at this and I am looking at seeing a girl for the 2nd time.  I noticed on her site she takes credit cards.

1-Do you worry about leaving a paper trail for LE if this girl ever gets busted?  And if LE would get a hold of that info what ramifications would be in store for me.

2-Do you worry about credit card fraud?  She seems like a nice girl but I am a fool to trust a girl in the field with such information?

Thanks for the advice.

Don't know if you hava a SO, but a paper trail on a cc, could you get you into big trouble with an SO if she ever stumbles across the bill, even if the billing # is a cover. In addition, while I have know I idea of your finances, with cash only being used for the hobby, it will keep you more in line.  Keep reading the board for more tips. Good luck

I personally would never give out my credit card.  Cash is always king.  Cash advance rules on credit cards will change when the new banking reforms go into effect this year.  Instead of the debt sitting at the bottom of your balance and not being able to pay it off before regular purchases, it will sit at the top.  You won't incur much interest charges if you pay it off (or at least the cash advance amount) by the end of the month.

"ONLY HOBBY WITH CASH"
"ONLY HOBBY WITH CASH"
"ONLY HOBBY WITH CASH"

Two reasons for this.  The first is the paper trail and possible fraud issue. The second and, to me, the far more important reason for not using a credit card is to avoid spending money that you can not afford.  Hobbying is a non-essential activity but good pussy is addictive. Don't use a credit card or a cash advance and only hobby when you have the discretionary funds to do it.

BG is very wise.
Always play with CASH.
Never play with CREDIT.
NEVER play with the rent money, grocery money, etc.
If you have to put off a date for lack of funds it will be good for your disipline.

NEVER leave Tracks.  It is SLOPPY.  People who are sloppy get caught.

A paper trail, definitely.  But that's more of a concern that your SO finds out than LE.  The only time that comes into play is if you use an agency that gets nailed for taxes or money laundering.  LE can't do anything about your records with an indy.

Fraud can happen and may happen.  If you screen your provider and she's good and reputable and has some history under her belt - then it's more likely the guy at the corner gas station is going to commit fraud than she is.

Oh, and the comment about trusting a "girl in the field" with that information is basically an ignorant point of view.  We are providers...  minor misdemeanors, not felonious and abusive criminals.  Are there some bad folks, sure, but the  that we can't be trusted as a whole just because we do this for a living is ludicrous and insulting to a degree.

I hope you didn't take mine or anyone else's comments to mean that providers aren't to be trusted.   I've entrusted several ATFs of mine with very personal things about me as I would any true confidant.  That being said, I even scratch out my CC # when they are printed on restaurant receipts.  I've been a victim of credit card fraud so it's easier not to arbitrarily trust anyone than it is to trust on a case by case basis when it comes to credit cards or financial data in general.  It's nothing personal.
