Where do I ask certain questions about the city I will be coming to to get general information?

...for specific info about a city that I would be visiting, I'd do some research here on the Regional Boards. If you will be visiting a city that doesn't have its own board, then the nearest location to the area you're thinking about. There are also other regional boards that give a more local flavor.

In addition to the relevant local board, check out the "city dot gov" site and their tourist bureaus. I always suggest checking the convention bureaus (gov or private) to see what's going on and coming up. A big convention could mean a scarcity of hotel rooms and higher prices. Check out the local sports and entertainment scene. A big event (playoffs; major rivals in a pennant race) means the locals are spending their discretionary money on other things.
.
What city or cities are you planning to visit?
