I use a Google Voice number for hobbying. I've been using this Korean agency and last week when I tried to make an appt. it goes straight to voicemail. I tried for a few days and gave up thinking they were busted or gone out of business.
Then today I used my normal phone number which I shouldn't have done but I did anyways. They answered the phone and everything was OK
Another weird thing is that I didn't know that they used 2 different numbers on 2 different ads on BP. Earlier in the day I made contact with the 2nd number. She asked me if I've been there before, but because I never dialed this number before I said I don't think so. And when I showed up they didn't allow me to enter after spotting me from across the street. Then about and hour later I thought what the hell? let me try the old number using my non GV number. Same girl answers but didn't realize she spoke to me earlier. I didn't want to get turned away again so told her that I'm a regular and she turned me away about an hour earlier. She kind of shrugged it off and didn't offer any explanation
I asked the provider about it but she didn't seem to know anything. I get along well with her and she seemed happy to see me so I don't think she asked them to banned my number or turn me away.
The other strange thing is that after getting turned away I tried calling a few other Korean agencies and they all went straight to voicemail. I wonder if it has anything to do with Google Voice? I'm planning on getting a prepaid but just don't feel like carrying 2 phones around
Since GV is essentially a call forwarding service, they may have tracking software that follows the stream of data whenever you call, linking your GV number to your real cell number. I suggest getting a hobby phone in the future.
and a voice service which does offer forwarding , I don't use them but yes they do and it is not a matter of may ,they do track everything .I wouldn't suggest google. He said he did not want 2 phones.Google I would avoid , but the service options available are endless .KendaLL
Why bother with GV if you have a prepaid? I think that just adds a layer of complexity with the only benefit being able to check/send texts and make calls online. If you value having that accessibility then go do it. I just don't see the pressing need since you're not exactly talking up a storm or sending tons of texts from a hobby phone.
My earlier point was about the agency tracking your calls and figuring out that calls to your GV # were getting forwarded to your other cell #.
