Question about cleaning my web history

I made the mistake of browsing TER on my girlfriend's laptop(Yes, I am addicted to TER), now she needs to get the history cleaned up because of SO.

We already cleaned the history & cache & everything I know about.

When I type "www.t" the TER link shows up!

What else can I do?

Please Help!

Thanks,
Lauren

Well, clearing the history should have stopped AutoComplete from putting the address in. However, it'll still do addresses that are in your Bookmarks/Favorites. Which browser are you using?

Hey Lauren,

Very good questions.

1. Log off TER....go to a vanilla site.

2. Check to see if TER is saved in her favorites or bookmarks. If so right click on it and delete it.

3. Go to Tools, down to Internet Options and select delete browsing history on exit, then go to the bottom of the internet options box and select  "Delete", make sure you check all the boxes EXCEPT THE TOP ONE THAT SAYS: Preserves Favorites Website Data...if it is checked...uncheck it. Delete everything (make sure she knows her passwords to everything) If you don't want to delete all the passwords it is ok just uncheck that box....however if anyone comes to this site it will pre-fill....if they put in the correct first letter to a username.

4. Refresh (control +f5) then restart your system. You should be all clear.

IE8, Firefox and Chrome?  It seems that these days, the mousetrap keeps evolving...

On internet Explorer, go to tools and delete browsing history.  There is a lot of stuff you can delete there but to simply delete the sites visited, it is very simple.

and a copy of your email proggy as well. Use the programs off of the thumb drive for all of your naughty stuff, and either hide or password protect the thumb drive.....

There's versions of browsers that are meant to totally run off the USB drive. They don't leave cookies, caches, bookmarks, registry changes, etc. on the main drive, so they shouldn't leave a trace once you've unplugged the USB drive.

From www.portableapps.com, you can get a portable version of Firefox. If you're really paranoid, you can get the Tor browser bundle, which is a portable version of Firefox plus Tor, from www.torproject.org. Tor is an anonymizer so that your IP address shows up as something different.
