I have had federal licenses, and if hobbying has nothing to do with the licensing, they won't do anything to you. They can only use relevant info to revoke your licenses.

For instance, if you are a licensed funeral director, and were busted for hobbying, what relevance is that to your job?

Now, if you were an OB/GYN, were busted for hobbying, and are now considered a registered sex offender, that might have some consequences.

Hi. I'm someone who would be considered a "professional" who would require special state or federal certification/licensing to work in my field. Sometimes when I hobby there's a nagging feeling in the back of my head that says that I shouldn't be doing this due to the consequences of being caught by LE such as a suspension of a license. Just wondering who the professionals are here and whether you feel the same way.

for any prostitution related offense, at least not a misdemeanor offence, in any case.

Some professions do bar people who have committed crimes of moral turpitude, however, and it is possible that the local licensing board, if presented with a complaint, could suspend or debar you.

On the other hand, I've never heard of this happening.

I am a licensed professional, but I don't worry about this as I make sure I see only well reviewed gals and act very discretly.

If you follow suit, you should have nothing to worry about.

I wonder if I would need a license just to be mrfisher?

Wouldn't you think something like speeding or similar traffic offense would be just as serious, yet you never hear of people getting their professional licenses suspended for that kind of infraction.

As I recall the only question I am asked on my renewal form is whether I have refused to pay any court ordered child support, or pay any back taxes.

When it comes to money, these agencies suddenly get very concerned.

...prostitution?  It's no wonder you're "still not a lawyer" and never will be.  It happens more often than most people realize.  Of course, if mrfisher the ostrich, hasn't heard or it, it must not happen.

Fish: try using the Google before saying you never heard of something happening.

Most often, it happens to hobbyists who are busted, but here's an example of someone who wanted his client to pay her fees with sex.

for having a 'fishing without a fishing license' misdemeanor.  She had to jump through all kinds of hoops to keep her license, and then she had to jump through even more hoops with the insurance companies that she represented because they also have 'morals' standards.  It was all quite absurd.

She had provided her way through law school...  when she was assaulted & injured...  and called the Police.  They were giving her a bad time from whjat I read in the press.

I know doctors, nurses, LMTs etc have a code of conduct & providing violates professional standards & they will have licence problems if caught.

and I would think with all the lawyers on here there would be a mention of it.

I was by no means saying is never happened or couldn't happen, in fact I pointed out that if a complaint were made, it could be a possibilty.

So, are you saying it has definately happened?

I read a lot of news stories about lawyers being sanctioning and even disbarred for screwing aroun with a client's money, but I can not recall any case involving prostitution, or any other misdemeanor.

The example you cite here is not a normal prostitution case, and is clearly well beyond what I would consider proper hobby activity.

and yes I'm...

still not a lawyer

If a person got caught offering services once, that person had to register as a sex offender. Some misinformed DAs and AGs seem to be trying to get those type of laws in other cities and some states.
