Hey all,
    I've hobbied in Hong Kong / Macau a bit, but never really in the states.  I'm not really up to date on any of the legalities associated with this and I understand anything takes a risk.  I was wondering if you might all help out a bit of a newcomer and let me know, or redirect me to a stickied thread, on all the precautions I can take to make sure I stay out of trouble while still enjoying this fine hobby.
    I was thinking of this particular ad to start off with, very cute:

She doesn't even look 18 though...Is it weird to ask for an ID to confirm being over 18?  :)

Click on 'self help center'.  That is basically the Newbie manual.  That should answer most of your questions.  This 'hobby' is essential illegal here in the states.  This forum is to help keep everyone safe.

If you are really concerned about the age of the girl in your ad, I would skip her.  She might not be very eager to show you her ID to prove her age.

Think about the question.....  Would you be comfortable showing your ID to someone you are meeting for the first time?  Your real name, your address, etc.....  With that in mind maybe someone you are that uncomfortable should be passed on as Seadoo69 suggested..

Use the general board drop down window.  Many legal topics discussed on that board. Scroll back a number of pages. And remember this  term STFU (shut the fuck up).  Hopefully you will never have to adhere to this basic philosophy if confronted by LE, but this is the best way to go.  I googled the ph# in the ad, the young lady has no reviews on TER or any local boards.  My advice move on.  If in fact you're in san diego, try the regional san diego ad board to locate someone you'd like to see. Make sure to get VIP membership, it's cheap, compared one crummy date.  Good luck

Not sure, but if you do a tineye search for her pics they come up on some porn sites. I think that usually means they are fake pics right? Too bad... she is really hot.

that she's not the girl trying to sell sessions on Backpage. Not that porn models haven't also been known to escort, but when they do, they don't usually try to blend in by hiding their porn background. Quite the opposite.

Although she doesn't look underage to me, I agree that if you're not sure you should always just pass. But what you really need to do before taking the plunge is to study up and learn to look out for bait & switch and other scams.
