In the beginning, in your opinion, would you hold out for finding a provider that fits your taste whatever that maybe at the time and is well reviewed being a newbie or would you just pick newbie friendly to pick up the references?  So maybe this boils down into a instant gratification more like immediate gratification versus a delayed gratification problem?

I am trying to find the thread(s) where it seems there are opinions on this.  I remember one was stating that this is not like ordering pizza which I related to the Burger King slogan, have it your way.  Another is thought is that it is a lifestyle change.  Or a an occasional fling.  But all seem to reinforce the hobby is what you make of it and you should enjoy it how you want to as long as you are safe.  Hopefully I'll have more time this weekend and can link and quote the threads I'd like to reference.

if that were to prove too difficult to achieve, I'd go with seeing a newbie friendly gal and earn the reference so that next time I could think about seeing someone more to my liking.

and how you present yourself.  My first time, I found a lady exactly to my taste and anticipated expectations (how that for English?) that worked with me even though she was not newbie friendly.  The one after that, same situation.  Both told me they just had a feeling given my emails and verification site presence.  They were both well reviewed and I likely lucked out due to their circumstances.  

I agree with the more experienced gentlemen on this thread, but I would also go for your taste and be a silver tongued devil in your contact with a lady.  And, BTW, I had been turned down by a few as a newbie.  The ladies that I did see, I have seen several times and we kinda laugh about how green I was to the hobby when they first saw me.
