I've been more comfortable giving that info to a provider than a third party, but despite my transparency, they don't seem comfortable with so little background. should I just get over myself and join preferred? am i being more worried than I should be?
so iit's kinda difficult to advise you. P411 has a pretty solid reputation as a verification site. IMHO, you are better off just giving your info to them, as opposed to several providers, until you see a few and write reviews. Seeing providers will get some whom you can use as references. The fewer that have your personal info, the better off you are. You can also ask some the ladies you see to give you a reference and join DateCheck as well. With a provider ref, you will not have to submit much of your own info. Feel free to pm me if you have more questions.
I'm pretty green to everything, and was curious about the employment verification. What do they normally ask for when they call? what if i'm the typical person who verifies employment at my place?
they will pretend to be, like a doctor's office, calling to verify an upcoming fictitious appointment. If they ask for you, they will usually hang up while the call is being switched. If you are the person that answers the phone to verify employment, you can either tell them you're you, or simply say that the person they are looking for (you) is out of the office at the moment to avoid identifying yourself.
While most of these sights insure the safety of both providers and hobbiests, I prefer to screen myself and offer a new client references of the gentlemen I see. This way it comes from the source...not from some biased group of moderators and providers who can be unecessarily catty and opinionated. If your privacy concerns you then simply explain that to them. We have something in common, I hate reviews put up about me because the members (both hobbiests and providers) start criticizing and accusing they're fakes. Do yourself a favor, ask the women you would like to see for references from clients and provide her with any info she may need,Oh, and I like to get to know a gentlemen through a few emails and calls before our date.That always eases the tension.

.....I still require my gentlemen friends to provide their name as it appears on their DL, and place of employment. Many ladies will accept P411 as sole verification, and others will not.

I think people need to be aware that you're not giving out any info that's not on your business card, which most people have given out 100s of times. Anyone can access the tools that providers and screening services use to verify you. Property records, sites like intellius, linkedin, company websites, etc. are all things that providers and services use to verfiy clients. The only additional step is the provider or screening service phone call/email and that can be quite innocuous if you do it properly.
The main problem is information retention. Most ladies don't throw away or sanitize client info after screening and session completion.
