Some ladies will require additional references, some won't. I believe they verify employment and I've never heard a complaint about them being indiscreet. I've been using it for a couple of years and really like it.
I've been noticing that some ladies require verification. For those who have gone through this screening service, a few questions:
1. Do providers still require further references or is this service usually all that's required? 2. Is P411 discreet? 3. Who exactly does P411 contact? Their site appears a little vague on the details.

The listings on P411 will tell you what providers require more than a basic screening. Some will say "newbie friendly" and they will take you without any other references; others say "basic plus" or "basic plus (a number usually 1-3)" and that means they want some provider okays (references) in addition to the P411 screening. IIRC, you cannot even see those listings until you have one provider okay. So the trick when you see a provider is to ask her to give you a provider okay on P411 - you can send her a request for okay from her listing on P411.
Once you have 2 or 3 okays, I think pretty much anyone who uses P411 will see you. Of course, you may try to contact an absent provider, maybe someone who has a listing but is not currently active, or not seeing new hobbyists, so they will not reply at all, but anyone who replies will accept that as sufficient screening in my experience so far.
I suppose, and I would need a provider to chime in and confirm this, that if your okays were all from newbie providers with no track record of their own, their okays might not suffice, but since you should really start out seeing established providers for many reasons (and what is the point of being screened if you are going to chase providers with no track record anyway - you are protecting them, but not yourself), that is not likely to be an issue.
It is also my understanding that P411 does some provider screening, though I am not sure about that.
As far as discretion is concerned, they did call my work but went through the switchboard with some bland company name and left me an equally discrete VM that I sort of figured out but even I could not be completely sure it was P411 until I called them.
I am relatively new and used P411. I completed the screening application and they called my office the next morning. Part of the sreening process was giving them some info on how to contact your employer and if they needed to know anything. Our receptionist is a call screenin' fool so i told them to ask for a specific service we offer and to ask for me specifically. The screener called and all went well. I met with a P411 provider that evening. I highly recommend.
When I signed up for P411 (as a client): They asked the phone number of my secretary, called and left a message for me claiming to be an innocuous caller (insurance maybe - forget exact alias). Then they emailed me and asked name of secretary who took the message and the details of the message that was left. That is, they verified my true identity and employment.
It appears from conversations with providers that many who are listed at P411 don't understand that P411 really does verify clients. Those who do understand appear to always accept P411 with their chosen number of OKs as satisfying their own screening requirements.
