The last time I activated a tracfone it required that I call a number from another phone to registre the tracfone.   I was able to do that without using my home phone or any easily traced back to me, but is that typical?

I've never had to call from a different phone to activate a burner number / tracfone

My work phone is a trac phone and you had to call from another phone to activate.but you may be able to do it online as well.

but if you really want to be anonymous, you should use public WiFi spot...  after buying the phone & minutes cards with cash only.
