IMO, you would have to try it to see if it's what you want to do.  It's not for everyone, male or female.  From your handle, I assume you are female.  It takes a special personality to be a successful provider, and not every woman can do it.

I'd suggest you read thru the self help center to get more familiar with what this site is all about.  You can then come back here and ask all the questions you want.  We're here to help.  I am the host of this forum, but I have many others willing to answer questions and offer advice.

Good luck,
Swim

How do we make sure the hobby is what we want?

But if there is a short and sweet answer, it is to do dilligent research into whomever you plan to see before contacting that person.

That goes for clients and providers.

comfortable in doing.  Screen, screen, and screen more so that you see the class of men you want to spend time with.  Do not compromise your boundaries for uncle Benjamin.

Good luck to you.

I know not many people are willing to share, mentor or divulge their life, but when I started I talked to other girls in order to gather more info and find out if these was really for me or not. As others have stated, people sometimes have the wrong idea of what truly is to be a provider. Sometimes you can be scared when things are not going exactly as planned and sometimes things are not as glamorous as everyone thinks. Read the boards, do research and decide whether this is for you or not. Remember that also we actually need to live a somewhat "double life" due to the stigma of society, some ladies may not be very fond of that either. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best!

The Internet Escort's Handbook Book1 and Book2 by Amanda Brooks
The first one, The Foundation", she talks about the personal/emotional aspect of the business and creates a realistic awareness so that you can figure out if it is for you or not.
The second one, "Advertising and Marketing" she talks about the details of the business, creating and selling your image online.
Very useful. Both of the books are excellent.
