Hello everyone. I am a new provider and have been lurking for awhile and need to get some input please. I am supposed to have my first client tomorrow night!!! I didn't want to be independent to start, so I found an agency on BP and I wanted to get some feedback on what is the norm when using an agency. This is more of a appointment setter for outcall or incall at your location. The clients are screened and the rates are split 50/50. I have emailed and spoken with the person in charge of setting up the appointments (he told me to research about this site), but we have not met and wont meet. I am supposed to have my first client tomorrow night. Feedback? Thoughts?

It is....if I ever worked for an agency anything over them getting 30% is pushing it hard.
Legitimate agencies do not advertise in Back Page. This guy is up to something. First of all, 50/50 is a ridiculous split with the agency. What is he actually doing for this cut? Truthfully you don't know. You don't know if he is actually screening sand you don't know where he is advertising for clients. How do you get paid? How does he get paid?
There are legitimate agencies in every major city. This guy isn't one of them. Proceed with extreme caution.
He said I would get 2 for $300, 3 for $500, 5 for $700 etc. But that he would have to "test" me on the interview before I get my first client. not paid. Also had me talk to another one of his girls on the phone...she made me feel more relax about the sitch...and has since called me 3 times... This is obviously making me feel tense but I dont have enought knowlegde in this industry to know if that's off or not. And how do I find legit agencies?
Trust me, it's off. First of all, agency owners don't fuck their girls. Of course "his girl" made you feel relaxed. That's what he told her to do. Understand something. A real agency represents you, they don't put you in bad situations and they don't take advantage of you.
You can find legit agencies here on TER. Many legit agencies also advertise on sexyjobs.com. Try doing google searches for escorts in your area. You DO NOT find them on Craig's List or Back Page.

There was also an instance last year where a well known provider disappeared going to work for an agency out west. Lets just say it was an ugly situation which turned out well thanks to a lot of providers.
Please look elsewhere. You can always post on your local board, or lurk, to see who the local legitimate agencies are to get started, or find a local indie willing to take you under her wing.
Hound is on target. Stop, buy a TER VIP membership ($20, two weeks to get hooked up). During the wait period, use your regional board to scope out postings from legitimate agencies. Don't get into a situation that you may not get out of. You may be hurting financially and need the money quick, but you could end up hurting far more, with a damaged life added on.

The are legit agencies in NYC, Aphrodite Companions, Belle de Jour escorts, the Red Heels, Gina Girl Friends, and probably more.
They are all run by ladies, the split is closer to 70/30, they all place ads on the regional boards listed on the left. The ladies there all have great reviews and reputations. Many ladies have started with them than gone indy.
Read the newbie manual found at the top of this board.
Read the other boards here, check out the ads in your area. Find out about LE in your area.
Screen your clients, or be 100% sure the people you are working with are doing it.

That sounds crazy. Mine didn't want to meet with me at all! That kinda threw me off... Was kinda worried it was LE. I did meet with another agency today and it is female owned. I met with a guy, but he didn't ask me for services. Just getting a bio, id check (I made him show me his ID as well)and discussing the pictures I submitted and how they would market me. It would be a 60/40 split with a lesser portion on long distance outcall or if I have to rent an incall myself. They screen with job verification and referrals from other agencies. Only hotel outcalls at upscale hotels for out of towners. We spent almost two hours talking and I checked out the company website. Im pretty sure this is the one I want to go with. Thanks for everyones advice on the other situation!!!
Do a search on your regional board and by phone number to see if something comes up in the reviews for that agency. If you get a lot of results, then it's most likely legit. Check and double check before starting out on this venture...
Morgan. Take the advice that is being offered to you. Check out the agency before taking the plunge. You may think you are capable of negotiating the hazards, but don't take that chance. The agency has a footprint, you need to find it and research it. One of the agencies that one poster mentioned, I have experience with, it is top flight with rates that will make you lots of money and keep you safe.
TEST YOU?! Oh hell no.....YOU should know that isn't right...that's some BS. I've never looked for an agency but anyone saying they need to test you well you need to run.
Do TER research on the agency, NOW!!! The provider that you talked to may be a plant. Do research and make up your own mind. 50-50 is not a bad cut if the agency provides a driver, or incall and security, do research here to pin the guy as legit or not. Proceed with caution, once, corrupt operators have you in their net, getting out without emotional and financial damage can be nearly impossible. I have seen good agencies advertise on backpage and other escort malls, but see more bad agencies advertising on those mediums. If you live in or near a major city, you have many choices of agencies to research and eventually work for. Take a few more days and get this right before you take the leap.
50% sounds like a big cut. But if the agency pays for the driver or incall, 50% is more reasonable. With rates in the $300 to $400 per hour for agency ladies in most big cities, you walk away with $150-$200 per. Find out what you can about the agency by going to site reviews here on TER, finding agencies and reading the ratings that the agency gets from clients. Agencies that get high ratings most likely treat their customers and employees well. If the agency that you have contacted has ratings below 50% with four or more reviews, leave it and find a competitor in your city that has higher ratings. The fact that the agency owner asked you to do research on TER is a good sign that he may be legit, do the research and keep your eyes and ears open. If you hire on and become a big draw, you can have a discussion with him about the 50-50 cut being some what lower for him if he is not providing a driver or incall location. I am one who thinks that a good provider is better off with a top agency, she gets volume that she desires while others do the work of screening clients and providing security, plus, good agencies have established clients and have weeded out freaks.
Definately get the VIP membership and used the search function on your regional boards. Great agencies get praised well.
