I'm new and really have no clue how to go about this.  I've done some reading in forums and discussion boards.  My biggest problem is not having any references and also a hesitation to give out personal info for verification.  Am I screwed??? Pun intended.

the life preserver. P411 will requst your personal info, they are a trust worthy verification service located outside the US. Joining P411 changed the game for me, opening doors I would have had a much harder time getting through.

Keep in mind that each provider has their own verification criteria and even when the memberships help you may be required to provide personal information, work information, show your driver's license etc.
While I agree with most that providing your personal it's scary, we do it in order to be safe.
Last word of advice, always stick to well reviewed providers with a strong presence here on TER, avoid taking chances with Backpage.  Do your homework and you should be fine.
