I am new to this forum and website, but grateful to have found it.  Recently was posting on cl and what a nightmare.  Any comments or insight would be appreciated from more seasoned members.  I am a little older considered a cougar. But recently fell on some rough times and have also gone back to school-yes back to school full time.  So now I have to keep going. Not complaining I am very optimistic!!

the better response you will get. From your post, I get that you are an "older" provider who has been posting as in the Craigslist casual encounter section? and probably getting flagged a lot, since p4p ads are no longer allowed there. You have fallen upon "hard times" and so you are looking to increase your business - and maybe improve the quality of the clientele you are serving?

Assuming that I am correct about all that, here's what I would tell you:

1) Read the TER self-help center to get more familiar with how TER works. There is a section for providers that should be especially helpful. (Look for the life-preserver icon)

2) Get some good quality photos if you don't already have  and put up a website (you can start out with a cheap or free site; if you are not internet savvy, find a friend who wll help you with this).

3) Advertise your service here on TER on the closest regional ad board to you - once a week, for free. Start frequenting these boards for advice, information, and just to get your name out there. The newbie board and the closest regional board to you, for sure. The General Board often has some good stuff, but be careful about posting there, things get pretty rough.

4) Get off Craigslist. Many people here will counsel you against Backpage as well, but if you live in an area far from the "big city", it is a good advertising venue. There are many other small-ish escort boards wher you can post and advertise, we are not allowed to mention them here. Make friends with another provider - fidn someone who will "mentor" you, and she will steer you to those venues. If/when you can afford it, look into ads on more expensive places like EROS.

5) I don't know what your service is like, but make sure you are being honest and classy. deliver what you say you will and don't upsell. Again, find a mentor who has been in the business a while.

Being new here, the first thing you should do is read the self help center.  It will answer many of your questions.  Link is under the life preserver at the top of this page.  Congrats on going back to school, it's never too late.  

If you have any questions that the self help center doesn't answer, this is the right place to ask.

thnig I would add is try to find a mentor in your area who can give you some guidance and advice re. your local scene. Each city/town has its places not to host incall, guys to see and not to see, etc.

if you could be more detailed about what exactly was nightmarish about your CL experience, we might be able to help you with that.

In general, CL and Backpage for that matter, are considered problematic in a number of ways, but some gals do seem to make it work with heavy screening, among other things.

I have been using cl for sometime now and have had success in keeping things going.  However, recently an unsatisfied customer posted some negative things.  Very nasty hateful things.  The scary part is that they know my name address and phone no.  However, it's been going on for a while and I feel threatened just frustrated.  

I am also tired of being flagged, and having appointments set with no shows.  Seems to be a regular thing lately, which I believe is a direct reaction to the negative postings about me.

None of your clients should EVER know your REAL name, address or phone number.

Seeing clients in your home is never a good idea. If you can't afford an actual apartment to use as an incall, at least use a motel or hotel that is not too too close to home - and I believe that many girls develop a rotation, so they are not using the same place continually.

You can buy a pay-as-you-go phone for almost nothing these days, and get plans for $25/month or less. If the phone gets compromised, change the number or throw it away and buy a new one.

And you are giving out your real name? BABY, you found TER just in time (I hope).  Come up with a stage name, delete ALL of your old ads, and start over - NOT on CL. If you have any regulars that are good guys, contact them (IF you have their permission) and let them know about the change.

Another reason to get off CL completely... at least with BackPage, they can't just flag you off (or it's harder, anyway.)
