Just signed up for TER VIP and doing my research.  It appears most girls want two references, which I understand and respect but being new to this I dont have any references. I also have a somewhat unconventional job as I play poker for a living in the LA area.  I have paid for sex in the past, but it was random and usually a casino girl in vegas or a stripper from a club so I dont have a ton of experience with this.  Any way to alleviate any concern a girl might have?

The first would be to try to sign up for a screening service like Roomservice 2000 or Date Check.  Given your job situation that may be problematic, but give it a shot.  Many gals take them without any other reference.

The second would be to try agencies.  They are often less strict on screening and they can then be used as a reference.

Lastly, if all else fails, write a short, sincere and grammtically correct email to some gals and explain your situation.  Be forthcoming about personal information to show your sincerety.  Some gal is likely to take a chance and they you'll have a reference.

They are based in Canada so your info should be beyond the reach of LE here.  They also will work with you to find altermative ways to verify you that don't include calling your "office," and have an 800 # so you can actually talk to someone there and work it out.  Finally, their listing indicates which gals are "newbie friendly" and don't require an "OK" from a provider.

from a companion's perspective you are high risk but signing up for a dating service and being open with your personal information is important. Grammy and speaking to her with respect is as well. If you are concerned about personal information, just check out the girl you are going out with to make sure she is highly reviewed and has a long history. Then you can feel comfortable with how professionally she carries herself and know your secret is safe with her....

p411 looks like the router I will go.  I don't know what methods they use to screen, or exactly what they are looking for(criminal record?  LE?), but I will trust that its legit and don't have anything to hide.

I have only my experience to go on.  I'm retired so I don't have a work # for them to call.  We worked out something else (copy of my DL with some details whited out and I don't even remember the second one, but probably a bill).  Faxed both.  They guarantee to destroy that material after screening is completed.  Who knows, but in this  game you have to trust at some point or you just can't play.  No bad ramifications and P411 has worked very well for me.  So has DateCheck.

I have a sensitive position with a background check, so I was nervous about the phone call.  Worked a script out with p411 in advance that was totally benign.  The call lasted 30 seconds was in context of what I do and most of all I was comfortable with it.  They made it like the 50 other phonecalls I get a day,  "Hello Mr. X, this is Ms Y at ABC Communications and we would like to talk to you about.....NOT Interested...Click"

Of course if you work for the NSA or some hyper paranoid government agency with unlimited resources to monitor and cross check every phone call, you should probably make other arrangements.

When I was starting, I exchanged emails with a provider willing to talk to me.  I gave up some personal information & a land line phone (not to be called but reverse look up).  
The main thing is to be honest, explain your circumstances & work to provide enough information to make her comfortable.  First dates are always nervious anyway, no reason to add to it.

I Just signed up today and I am in a similar situation to phullivey; professional poker player, living in SoCal with zero references. I was about to make a similar post and after reading ~7 pages of threads on the boards I came across this one.  I was wondering did you have any luck with P411 or any of the other screening services? After reading the newbie FAQ and this thread it looks like that is the best option.
