What do providers mean when they ask for "references"? They put up web-ads, it's not like people are getting personal referals.

my contractor, he puts up web ads, I still wanted references. This is the same but in reverse... we want to know that YOU are ok.
"References" usually is understood in the hobby to mean you can provide the name of providers that are willing to state that you have seen them and that you are not a threat to their safety or Freedom (*meaning you will not assist L/E in taking them into custody by meeting with you*) ... AND,
~Just for the record.... I do "put up web-ads" but that doesn't mean I am just sitting by my phone waiting to give a guy the directions to my location.......
There is a reason the hobby isn't called playing with street walkers. Most Providers have as much or more to loose than you do and they are usually compensated to Provide many services other than those obviously accommodated by a Street Walker.

...what is meant by "references". It's on the Rates page, on the right hand side underneath "To Book an Appointment".
We are providers and are concerned for our physical and legal safety, so we take precautions, that's all.
Choose a professional, well-reviewed lady with a phone number, website, e-mail address, etc. so that you'll feel comfortable giving her your references.

I'm just used to the way things work in Vegas and some other places. I've met lots of ladies in other places, and the most I've ever been asked for is a call-back number.
I still don't understand how someone visiting another city for the first time is suposed to make a conection.

But I often meet with Gentlemen who aren't from my City and many can still provide me with a reference. (*I guess I am one of the lucky one's, my long distance is free*) I can also say it varies by provider....

...you had seen Tori from Atlanta, for example, I could look up her website and call or e-mail her for a reference, and I'm in Tampa. Or you could provide your business # or something for verification.
Global, not local. It's all very simple and easy.
Ummmm...I'm in Vegas, the ladies in town ask for references...unless you mean Las Vegas, New Mexico...I'm not sure how things work there, I've never been there.
With the invention of the internet, "another city" isn't a huge problem..like this thread replies from Seattle, Nevada, Georgia, and Florida...see how global things have gotten? and with such ease.
Hell, you say you are used to Vegas (if you mean the the neon glaring one in Nevada) much of the business seems to come from people visiting, and it sems to work out.

Beat me to the punch, lil sister.
The way it works in Vegas is that the visitor picks up one of local handy magazines, calls a number, and the person of your choice shows up shortly. No one has ever asked me for a reference or proof of employment. This has also been true in Maui, LA, SanFran, Reno, and Phoenix.
You have been doing things the "old school" way before all the online changes occurred.
You have moved up to a differnt league now. With independants and more professional agencies.
What you had with the "handy magazines" were ads from, primarily, agencies that did no screening because they weren't all that worried about if you were a psycho or LE. They sent the lady of your choice to you, and she would be paying for their lack of screening with her freedom and well being.
Now, you are in the next step of the business, not what everone sees or accesses simply walking down a street. This is where things are more professional, and safety is more considered.
You, from your initial post, it seems have finally found either an indipendant or an agency that actually gives a damn about what might happen to the ladies that work with them. That is going to make you have to prove a bit more than that you have a phone number....LE and psychos have phone numbers too.
If you prefer the "handy magazine" way of doing things, most cities have alternative newspapers with ads in the back and you can keep doing things as you have before...or if you want to move up out of the minor leagues you can play by the rules of this new league...and those rules are in place to offer some level of protection to the ladies, and involve screening and references.
I can also assure you, that the way it works in Vegas, Phoenix, Atlanta, New York, LA, Seattle, Boston, cities in Texas,Hawaiian Islands, etc. is, and has been for a long time, is to go through screening and have references, at least at this level.
So you may be right in your experience of needing nothing more than a phone number, and if that is all you want to have to give out, stick with those that only ask for that (though I would point out that is also, all they ask for from the undercover LE that will grab their records). If on the other hand you wish to see ladies that want screening and references for their saftey, then you will have to do that to see them.
If your way has worked so well for you, I say stick with it, but if you want to see someone that needs more from you, you have to decide which you want more to just give a phone number or to see the lady you desire...it's really your call.
A quick aside, never try and convince a lady not to screen or change her way of doing things, bad form....you are playing in the new world, and it has it's own rules.

I have had the Las Vegas experience also,but never with a provider in my area(New Orleans).So,all I have is a job phone,listed home phone & legit e-mail address.Would this be sufficient? Anyone? Thanks
Altus, how's the city REALLY doing? My favorite cities in the US are LV, NOLA & SF. I guess I have a thing for freaks, LOL.
Also, how's the provider scene in town? When I was there, it was very agency driven and it seemed that the quality was a bit shaky.
Since I work for the Phone Co.on the North Shore of the Lake I have only been to N.O.once since the storm.That was about a month ago and it looked like the storm had just happened.No progress at all.Most of our phone infrastructure is being replaced.I grew up there and hated to see it happen.Lost several friends & 1 relative because of it.Have never tried the Providers down there yet,so not sure.Have only tried Vegas.Thanks for asking.
