...for me to be able to provide a useful response to it. It would be helpful if you could be more specific about areas you want information on, for example, screening, advertising, protocol, etc.

I'd suggest you read the newbies manual at the top of the page, and maybe go through the first page or two of posts on this board just to get familiar with the site. Then come back and ask any specific questions that you have.

Also, you might want to get involved on your local board. You'll find that to your left in the Regioanl Boards drop down menu.

TER for the sake of meeting potential clients, there are three things I would suggest.

The first is to make up your own website, hire a good photog and display several provocative photos of yourself on this site.  (You need not show your face if you don't want to, but many potential clients will pass you over unless they can get some idea of what you look like.)

The second would be to ask TER to link this site to all your posts.

Finally, I would suggest that you read and get accustomed to the various boards on TER, especially your home town board (NYC) and the General Discussion Board; then partake in the discussions.

I, and I think many other TER members, have found many fun and interesting providers this way.

Best wishes to you.

and you need to know the advertising guidelines, found under info and policies, linked at the top of the page.

Check out the Regional Boards, listed on the left.

The New York is very active.

The more you read, the more you'll learn about the vibe here, who's successful, and why.

If you have specific questions feel free to PM me.

Sometimes local boards do not contain much discussions. And as you mentioned local boards may contain mostly ads for providers which is fine, as long as the guidelines are obeyed.
It all depends on the posters to make the board interesting. You will see Wash DC, Philly, Las Vegas, Boston have a lot of exchanges between clients and providers and can be very lively boards. Dead boards would be Orange County, New Mexico etc.
