The 3 main ones are DateCheck, Preferred411, and RoomService2000.  Check and see which one is most prevalent in your area.  Until you see some providers and get some references, you are probably gonna have to give up some personal info to get verified.  Remember, verification of you is largely for the provider's protection, as well as your own.

and the Newbie Manual.  But, yes, p411 and DateCheck are good everywhere.  P411 is especially good because you can talk to someone at their 800# who can offer alternatives to an employment check.  But!  Some  gals also will want to veryify your employment.  P411 is a good start but not a total  solution.  Best bet:  join P411 and search for a "newbie friendly" provider.  After seeing her (not before, bad form) ask for her "OK".  That gets you "Basic Plus  One" status and more gals will see you.  After the next OK you'll be basic plus 2 and most gals there will see you.  And so on.
