Today's topic is on moderation.

Discussion board moderation:

1. Everyone starts out moderated.  Moderation
means that your posts do not show up immediately
but instead are checked by the board's moderator
before being posted.

2. Each board has a different moderator who has
a different schedule.  This means moderated posts
can show up at different times on different boards
even though they may have been posted at the same
time.  Most moderators check their boards a few
times a day (sometimes less on weekends).

3. Most often, the moderator of your regional TER
board will unmoderate you when he or she gets
comfortable with your postings.  This is totally
at the descretion of the board's moderator and
there is no set number of posts or time frame to
become unmoderated.

4. Some moderators will not unmoderate providers.
They do this to better control ad postings to make
sure they follow ad posting guidelines.

5. Any moderator of any TER board can place an
unmoderated individual on moderated status if they
break a rule.

6. Moderation applies to all TER boards.  If you
are moderated/unmoderated on one, you are
moderated/unmoderated on all TER boards.

7. You can edit your posts for up to 24 hours
after you post them.  But you can't edit your post
until it appears on the boards.  In practice, for
moderated posts, the time frame for editing is
actually less than 24 hours.  In the rare case that
a post takes longer than 24 hours to show up, you
will not be able to edit it.

8. Moderators are volunteers.  They are not employeed
or paid by TER.  They are not involved in any way with
the TER review process or review database.  They have
no special access to TER (other than the Moderators
board).  Their access is the same as any other
TER VIP member.


Here's a list of the board moderators and a few notes.
A moderators handle shows up as red when they post
on a board they moderate.  Notice that most of the
boards are handled by just a few moderators.
