...like the girls on Back Page use things like business cards and touchy-feely "LE checks" in place of real screening. You're right, anyone can print up a business card on their home computer that can say whatever they want it to say.
The provider's fear of "Psychos" is just as real as yours is. Getting some references and joining a screening service or two may help you a bit but there are always going to be girls who want your real world name and work for verification. The amount of info you are comfortable giving out is a decision that only you can make.
Providers keep asking me where I work and to produce a business card. First of all, what does that do for them. If someone wants to fake where they work, can't they just have a fake business card made? Secondly, I would rather not have providers know where I work in case there is a psycho out there. Is there a way to allow them peace of mind without letting them know where you work?
Or you should join one of the verification sites until you acquire some provider references. I'm not sure what the thing is with the business cards, but as a retired person, I have never been asked for one. Even if I had been, teachers rarely have business cards anyway, I never did. Your concerns about providers knowing where you work is understandable, which is a good reason the join at least one verification site, DateCheck, Preferred411, or RoomService2000. There are numerous threads on this forum relating to this situation. It's a lot simpler to give up some personal info to one or two sites than to a number of providers. Gina at P411 has a pretty good rep for working with guys to verify them. You can call that site at their toll-free number.

speaking of date check and p411, quick question...I haven't had to use these yet since my clients have been forthcoming with business and online info and references...can I search the site if a client gives me the info or is there a fee for providors too? Just wondering.
It's free for providers. But they do have to verify you are a provider. Having reviews on review sites helps. You can also have clients and other providers vouch for you. Just check out their websites. Everything should be explained pretty clearly there.

It's too bad for people like me, but stil understandable. I actually just contacted a smokin' escort who was getting amazing reviews, but she wanted my real name (which I did give) and two other providers as references. Problem is I've only seen two providers so far and one refused to let me use her as a reference and the other didn't even get my name at all.
.....are really not worth the paper they are printed on.
As an quasi UTR courtesan, who works part time in the private sector, one's place of employment is paramount. I never want a conflict of interest. A gentleman might not know me personally, or recognize me, but perhaps, his company, and mine, intersect at some point, and again, I do not want a conflict of interest. My private sector profession is worldwide; not just in my home town.
Yes, being a member of Preferred411, or Date-Check, provides an added layer of security/verification, but I still must have the completed appointment form from my website. I have no need to contact a gentleman's employer personally, as I have other means of verifying this information.
I have yet to meet anyone, that their risk is greater than mine; equal maybe, but not greater.

I never thought about it from that point of view. It is quite terrifying the prospect of a provider using the knowledgement of my employment against me as a blackmail. And what if they find out my address and know about my family and stuff? There is so much they can take advantage of and hold over my head. That's why I am still afraid to give my information to P411 and other websites, much less directly to a provider.
What on earth, would I have to gain, by attempting to blackmail someone? Not only would I be out of this lucrative profession which I do part time, and enjoy, I would be out of my other one, which I enjoy, as well.
As I say in my website, "I have too much self respect, to ever interfere in a gentleman's personal, or professional lives".

Yikes! Now I'm nervous. I sent in an application on another gals website a few days ago (haven't heard back yet). Before the worst thing I was worried about was her calling and my boss feeling weird about it, but I never thought of blackmail... yeesh!
Every provider is different, so let's not try a one-size-fits-all method.
