Of course she doesn't have a page listing over priced designers, or her shoe size, which probably would have killed the jibe anyway.

I'll save the question of why I want to get her a more personal gift for my therapist.

Last time I wanted to show a lady how much I cared about her I gave her 3 roses and a box of choc's. In a couple of email exchanges she also stated how much she liked to read so I gave her a book.

Needless to say, she was very flattered at my thoughtfulness and had a great way of showing me!

Why don't you inquire in a general way just to get the temperature in the course of conversation. After she gives you a few subtle hints, act on one of them or a couple of them. Remember it is not so much the gift but the thought that counts.

What present would you 'normally' give a girl on your 2nd date?
If you don't know enough about her to venture a guess at where her tastes lie, just ask or stick with the classics - pralines, perfume, flowers... and more flowers.
My tip: Ladies care more about the packaging and presentation and the thought that comes with your gift
